The live-action film adaptation of the manga "Wandance" by Coffee, which has been strongly supported by dancers and also drew attention when a TV anime aired last year, and which is currently serialized in "Monthly Afternoon" with cumulative single-volume circulation exceeding 1.3 million copies, will be released nationwide on Friday, November 27, 2026. JO of &TEAM, making his first starring film role, will play the protagonist Kabo; Anji Ikehata will play Hikari Wanda, also known as Wanda, who changes the protagonist’s fate; Kirara Yamaguchi of Girls2 will play the charismatic dancer Miyao On, who leads the dance team TEAM ON that Kabo joins; RAN of MAZZEL will play senior Iori Itsukushima, who sees Kabo’s talent and encourages him to take on dance battles; TSUKKI will play Kabe, whose real name is Gaku Kabeya, Kabo’s strongest rival in dance battles; and Aloha Takamatsu of Bullet Train will play Usen, whose real name is Usen Takumi, the leader of a skilled team that stands in Kabo’s way at the dance contest. In previous announcements, multiple related words entered X trends at the time of the reveal, and the project has been generating excitement not only among cast fans and original-work fans but also on social media, with attention also focused on the high level of the released dance footage. From this film, still images of Kabo played by JO have been released. The released images include one in which Kabo is thinking while looking at a flyer recruiting members for the dance circle TEAM ON, one in which he shows a smile that makes it clear his expression changes rapidly after encountering dance, one in which he has a fulfilled expression after the dance contest, and one after he has finished dancing with the sunrise in the background. These stills capture Kabo’s state of having freed both his body and his heart, and they are a collection of images that contain the appeal of Kabo, which only JO could embody. A special video has also been released. Together with JO’s words about taking on his first starring role, the behind-the-scenes of JO challenging the film shoot is revealed as "ROAD TO WANDANCE." It is a video that fans will not be able to resist, showing everything from serious expressions to smiles. Kabo’s casting was a major topic from the time the film was announced. What the producers, who had faced the major challenge of finding someone who could embody Kabo’s visual appearance from the original work, "discovered" was JO of &TEAM. Based on his physical characteristics of dancing with long arms and legs, and his inner qualities of seeming delicate while also giving the impression of hidden passion, the producers passionately insisted, "There is no one but JO for the role of Kabo." Although adjusting schedules with the group’s extremely busy activities was difficult, the producers’ strong feelings and repeated enthusiastic approaches came to fruition, and JO as Kabo was realized. Regarding the role of Kabo, JO also said, "While there are parts where Kabo and I are very similar, as I played him, many detailed aspects of Kabo’s character came out, including his passionate side that is like Kabo and yet different from me. I feel that I was able to show many expressions as Kabo, especially toward the latter half. I think that both I myself and Kabo were able to change through this filming and this role." One of the highlights is the change in Kabo’s expressions throughout the film. ■ Release information "Wandance" opens on Friday, November 27, 2026 Cast: JO (&TEAM), Anji Ikehata, Kirara Yamaguchi (Girls2), RAN (MAZZEL), TSUKKI, Aloha Takamatsu (Bullet Train), Kanji Furutachi Original work: Coffee, "Wandance" (serialized in Kodansha’s "Monthly Afternoon") Director: Naoya Kusaba Screenplay: Keiichi Kobayashi Theme song: &TEAM "For us" Dance supervision: Charisma Kantarou Music: origami PRODUCTIONS, GuruConnect Production: Film "Wandance" Production Committee Planning, production, and distribution: Happinet Phantom Studios (C) Coffee / Kodansha (C) 2026 Film "Wandance" Production Committee ■ Related site Official "Wandance" website ■ Release information "Wandance" opens on Friday, November 27, 2026 Cast: JO (&TEAM), Anji Ikehata, Kirara Yamaguchi (Girls2), RAN (MAZZEL), TSUKKI, Aloha Takamatsu (Bullet Train), Kanji Furutachi Original work: Coffee, "Wandance" (serialized in Kodansha’s "Monthly Afternoon") Director: Naoya Kusaba Screenplay: Keiichi Kobayashi Theme song: &TEAM "For us" Dance supervision: Charisma Kantarou Music: origami PRODUCTIONS, GuruConnect Production: Film "Wandance" Production Committee Planning, production, and distribution: Happinet Phantom Studios (C) Coffee / Kodansha (C) 2026 Film "Wandance" Production Committee ■ Related site Official "Wandance" website
