A man who illegally synthesized the faces of members of popular idol groups such as aespa, LE SSERAFIM, and NewJeans to produce obscene materials was given a suspended sentence by the court. According to legal sources yesterday (25th), the 11th Criminal Division of the Uijeongbu District Court (Chief Judge: Oh Chang-seop) sentenced Mr. A, who was indicted at home for violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (editing false images), to 1 year and 6 months in prison with a 3-year suspension. The court stated, 'Mr. A produced false images that could cause sexual shame for female entertainers and acquaintances for his own sexual satisfaction and display, and posted them in chat rooms, indicating the high maliciousness of his crimes.' They also pointed out, 'The potential for these images to circulate indiscriminately means the damage is significant.' Additionally, they explained that they considered various circumstances such as the fact that some victims reached a settlement, it was his first offense, and he did not gain financial profit when deciding the sentence. Mr. A is suspected of operating a chat room for about four months starting in December 2024, using editing programs to produce false images by synthesizing the faces of famous entertainers and acquaintances in approximately 330 instances, which he disseminated in the chat room. Notably, it has been confirmed that the false images he produced included members of famous idol groups such as aespa, LE SSERAFIM, and NewJeans.
