The romantic drama starring So Ji-sub and Lim Soo-jung is making a comeback after 20 years. Wavve announced the release of '[Director's Version] I'm Sorry, I Love You 2024' on the 22nd, along with the main poster and trailer. 'I'm Sorry, I Love You' tells the ultimate love story of Mu-hyuk (So Ji-sub), who was adopted to Australia as a child and returns to Korea after being diagnosed with a terminal condition, where he meets Eun-chae (Lim Soo-jung) and learns to love for the first time. The show was a huge hit when it aired in Korea 20 years ago. Wavve released a poster for the 2024 version, capturing a scene where Mu-hyuk and Eun-chae hide from gangsters in Melbourne, Australia, with their fashion from that time also being a hot topic. The tagline 'A sad love story I want to remember forever' reflects the message of the work and excites fans who consider it a 'drama of life.' The trailer released alongside the poster restores the 2004 trailer to the 2024 version, evoking nostalgia. The trailer is emotionally stirring, showcasing Mu-hyuk, who was adopted and raised as a street child, facing death, and Eun-chae's lonely and painful emotions as she falls in love with him. The legendary OST song 'Snow Flower' by Park Hyo-shin is remade by NCT's Doyoung, delivering the tragic love's poignant feelings. '[Director's Version] I'm Sorry, I Love You 2024' is directed by Lee Hyun-min, with key staff including the music director participating, re-arranging the original 16 episodes into a 6-episode OTT version. Wavve explains that Mu-hyuk's story of deep loneliness is enhanced, and Eun-chae's love that transcends death is expressed with even deeper emotions. Additionally, the quality of the visuals and sound has been improved, and subtitles have been added to enhance convenience for viewing in the OTT series format. Wavve is preparing a package of works that upscale the original to 4K for clearer visuals as part of the 'New Classic Project,' which selects and re-arranges masterpieces from the 2000s for the 2024 version. Alongside '[Director's Version] I'm Sorry, I Love You 2024,' other iconic winter dramas like 'Winter Sonata,' 'Boys Over Flowers,' and 'My Lovely Sam-soon' will be released simultaneously as part 2.
