LIGHTSUM releases its Japanese major debut mini album, Re:idol, and premieres the music video for the lead song, “Doushite.”

The six-member girl group LIGHTSUM, which was reborn as a “Japanese-style idol” after recently reaching the final episode of the ABEMA documentary “Re:Idol,” has released today (the 23rd) its Japanese major debut mini album, Re:idol, which lets fans enjoy their new charm. The Japanese major debut mini album Re:idol, which can be said to be the culmination of LIGHTSUM’s challenge, is a work that condenses their new appeal as they are reborn into a different form, packed with the “kawaii” unique to Japanese-style idols. In addition to four completely newly written songs, the album includes a total of five songs, including “POSE! (Kawaii ver.),” which transforms their latest Korean single into something cute for this project. It is being released in two formats, a regular edition and a first limited edition, and is a must-listen work filled with the “now” of LIGHTSUM, who are beginning to shine anew. Also, the music video for the lead song “Doushite,” which had been distributed in advance, will be premiered on YouTube at 9 p.m. today. This music video, which was filmed in Japan for the first time for LIGHTSUM, was also the first-ever shoot on the rooftop of Kabukicho Tower. Director Mitsunori Yokobori explained the direction of the production, saying, “Since LIGHTSUM was filming a music video in Japan for the first time, I was particular about making the location a place that was also being filmed in Japan for the first time,” and “It starts with costumes and hair and makeup that are like the members, and by the end it changes into a new idol image,” and “I wanted to film it so that the before and after could be clearly felt.” The costumes were handled by stylist YOKO IRIE, who is active in a wide range of fields such as fashion magazines and advertising. The choreography was handled by Ran-sensei, who has worked on many popular idol groups. Filmed in a special location, the music video for “Doushite,” in which each member transforms into an idol through hair and makeup, costumes, choreography, and visual direction after going through each member’s story, is something to watch closely. In addition, a YouTube live stream featuring all the members is also scheduled to be held from 8 p.m., one hour before the music video premiere.
