DAY6 receives an award from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Today (28th), according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency, DAY6 will attend the '2024 Republic of Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards' ceremony held on the 31st at the National Theater of Korea's Heorum Theater in Jung-gu, Seoul. On this day, DAY6 is scheduled to receive the award from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism along with actress Ahn Eun-jin, Ko Min-si, model and actress Jung Ho-yeon, comedian Yoon Seong-ho, director Yoon Jong-ho, ASTRO's Cha Eun-woo, Jannabi, Silica Gel, and performance producer Chang Hyun-ki. This is the first time DAY6 has received a government award since their debut in September 2015. They debuted with 'Congratulations' and have released songs like 'Letting Go', 'You Were Beautiful', 'I Loved You', 'I Like You', 'Shoot Me', 'To Become One Page', and 'Zombie', showcasing musical changes and growth. After countless days of uncertainty about tomorrow, they have aspired to create 'timeless music' and have diligently worked on their main profession, releasing a total of 12 albums (3 full albums and 9 mini albums) over the past 9 years, excluding unit and solo albums. Since resuming group activities after Wonpil's discharge last November, they have emerged as the main players in the band boom. They released their 8th mini album 'Fourever' in March and their 9th mini album 'Band Aid' in September. Following the resurgence of 'To Become One Page' and 'You Were Beautiful' on the charts, their title tracks 'Welcome to the Show' and 'Melt Down', along with the song 'HAPPY' from this year's albums, have dominated music streaming charts for extended periods. As they approach their 10th anniversary next year, they are referred to as 'everyone's band' beyond just being a 'representative K-POP band'. Their popularity, which was not small but limited to My Day (DAY6's fan name), has spread to the public beyond fandoms and K-POP fans. With their unique songs that are unaffected by seasons or times, this is excellent material for DAY6, who dreams of a long-term battle. The 'Popular Culture and Arts Awards', now in its 15th year, encourages the efforts and achievements of public culture and arts professionals, including singers, actors, entertainers, voice actors, as well as broadcast writers, directors, and producers, to enhance the social status and creative motivation of public culture artists. This year, a total of 31 teams will receive awards, including the Cultural Medal, Presidential Award, Prime Minister's Award, and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award. Six people will receive the Cultural Medal. Actors Shin Gu and Kang Bu-ja will receive the Silver Crown, while actor-singer Kim Chang-wan and broadcast writer Lim Gi-hon will receive the Gold Crown. The Jade Crown will be awarded to singer Lee Moon-sae, and the Flower Crown to actor Choi Soo-jung. The Presidential Award list includes voice actor Kim Do-hyun, performer Kim Mok-kyung, director Kim Han-min, actress Yeom Hae-ran, recording engineer Lee Tae-kyung, actor Cho Jung-seok, and Hong Kwang-ho. Eight people will receive the Prime Minister's Award, including music directors Kim Seong-soo, KENZIE, voice actor Kim Yong-jin, actor Lee Jae-hoon, singer Chang Ki-ha, director Chang Jae-hyun, actress Jeong Woo-hee, and actor Choi Jae-rim. Additionally, the celebratory performance at the awards ceremony will feature the musical 'Airport Baby', directed by Park Ka-rin, and Jannabi will perform songs that embody the spirit of public culture artists who do not stop challenging and growing.
