A romance film "Youth 18x2, The Road Leading to You" depicts the journey of a 36-year-old man heading to Japan to find his first love that started 18 years ago in Taiwan. The film has been confirmed for release in Korea, and a teaser poster has been unveiled. The poster features Jimmy (Greg Han) and Amy (Kiyohara Kaya) sitting side by side on the subway. The awkward yet fresh atmosphere of their "Mimi Couple" exudes the feeling of a first love, making viewers' hearts flutter. The phrase "18 years ago, if I had expressed my feelings at that time, would we have changed?" stimulates curiosity about what happened to the two 18 years ago and whether the two will meet again 18 years later to confirm their feelings for each other. Based on a popular travel essay in Taiwan, "Youth 18x2, The Road Leading to You" was planned for film adaptation by popular Taiwanese actor Chang Chen (Zhang Zhen) and directed by Japanese film hitmaker Doi Michito. Doi Michito's notable works include "Newspaper Reporter," "10 Years to Live," and the remake of a Korean film "Going All the Way," where Shim Eun-kyung starred and gained attention. In the film "Newspaper Reporter," which won six awards at the 43rd Japan Academy Prize, including Best Picture, his directing skills were recognized. To meet Amy, who left with memories of first love, Jimmy, a Taiwanese man heading to Japan after 18 years, was played by Greg Han (Xu Guanghan). He made his debut in the drama "Dive Into Love" in 2013 and demonstrated stable acting skills in the 2019 drama "Love Over Time," earning a nomination for Best Actor at the 55th Golden Bell Awards in Taiwan. He has since worked as a voice actor in "My Love," "My Ghost Became My Family," and "How Do You Live?" and has been confirmed to appear in the Korean drama "No Way Out," garnering expectations from Korean fans. Kiyohara Kaya, who has been active in various genres such as "The Brightest Roof in the Universe," "I Fell in Love Like a Bouquet," the anime "Josee, the Tiger and the Fish," and "You're Not Normal, Either," plays the role of Amy, a Japanese woman who met Jimmy during a backpacking trip in Taiwan 18 years ago and left with memories of first love. Expectations are high for her collaboration with Greg Han. "Youth 18x2, The Road Leading to You" recorded 28 million Taiwanese dollars (approximately 132.15 million yen) on its opening day in Taiwan on March 14, ranking first in box office revenue. As of March 27, it has achieved 57 million Taiwanese dollars (approximately 269 million yen) and set a record as the highest-grossing Taiwanese film in 2024, sparking a boom. With the upcoming release in Japan on May 3, the film's popularity is expected to spread beyond Taiwan to Japan and Korea. The cross-border romance film "Youth 18x2, The Road Leading to You" starring Greg Han and Kiyohara Kaya will be released in Korea on May 22.
