“I hope you can find your true self in the adventure 펼led together with the new work ‘9’.” SEVENTEEN member Jun’s first Chinese EP, “9,” was released today (the 28th) at 11 a.m. It is an album that expresses in seven songs the process of facing one’s first emotions and completing a complete ‘self.’ On this day, Jun said through his agency PLEDIS Entertainment regarding the release of the new album, “It is an album I made with all my heart and soul, so I am very excited,” and added, “I had been looking forward to this album being released and being able to communicate with everyone through music.” “9” includes a total of seven tracks: the title track of the same name as the album, the included songs “360 (Feat. Mabelz PiXXiE),” “I See You,” “寻途 (Inward),” and the interludes “月背 / YueBei,” “Dexire,” and “4give.” Jun participated in writing the lyrics for all songs except the interludes, putting his sincerity as an artist into them. Jun said, “The message of ‘finding, looking at, and expressing oneself’ runs through all seven tracks. Since all the songs each have different charms and styles, I hope you will enjoy the music to the fullest,” and added, “I want you to accept ‘9’ as one adventure we walk together. Through this adventure, I want to convey the belief that ‘if we do not give up on our dreams and do not lose courage, our courage will surely be rewarded.’” The title track “9” is a pop-style song based on downbeat and bass sounds, with an addictive melody added. The lyrics sing of the moment, after going through many trials and twists and turns, when one stops hesitating and faces one’s true heart. The music video was inspired by the Chinese folk legend “Nine-Life Cat Demon,” and depicts Jun, in the form of a time loop, racing endlessly through the cycle of time until he fulfills his final wish. Actress Isabella Leong, who co-starred with Jun in the film “Rebirth 2,” which will be released in mainland China on the 3rd of next month, appears in it and is drawing attention. The video ends in an open-ended way that leaves interpretation to the viewer, along with a cat’s meow, making for a curiosity-arousing finish.
