Yubin of Wonder Girls revealed her affection for Seohyun of Girls' Generation. Recently, on Yubin's YouTube channel "Yubin's Spotlight," a video titled "The Strongest of the Second Generation: Wonder Girls and Girls' Generation, the Eldest and the Youngest Meet" was released. In the video, Yubin said, "While getting close to you, I thought, 'Why did we only become close now?' I realized while talking to you that 'Seohyun and I actually match more than I thought.'" She continued, "Actually, you were my favorite among the Girls' Generation members. Before I debuted, you all debuted first, and I even said on the radio, 'I like Seohyun the most.'" She confessed her fan feelings, adding, "You are hardworking, lively, and I really wanted to support the way the youngest is trying to live properly." Yubin mentioned feeling very lonely at an awards ceremony in 2013 but was deeply moved that Seohyun cared for her. In response, Seohyun said, "I really liked the older sister among Wonder Girls. I often imitated you in the waiting room. So, I actually wanted to get close, but at that time we were very busy and all the waiting rooms were separate... so we didn't have many chances to meet, just passing by each other on stage." The two talked about why they couldn't easily become close despite liking each other back then. Yubin revealed, "Gradually, the company started to avoid us from overlapping comebacks. There were times we overlapped for about a week, but they subtly shifted our comebacks apart." She continued, "We were completely rivals back then. Even though we didn't think that way at all, it naturally became that way, and we wanted to spend time together, but it was difficult." Seohyun empathized, saying, "Everyone was around the same age, and we could relate to each other the most, so I think that's why we're closer now." They reminisced about the time when Wonder Girls and Girls' Generation swapped hit songs "Tell Me" and "Kissing You." Yubin said, "At that time, we just swapped our songs and sang them," and Seohyun confessed, "I originally really liked Wonder Girls' songs and wanted to do it. In the waiting room, I only sang Wonder Girls' songs instead of ours." Yubin remarked, "We had retro and sparkly hairstyles, so everyone envied Girls' Generation. We also wanted to do cute things, pure things, and lovely things," to which Seohyun replied, "We're the opposite. Rather, we wanted to do beautiful and glamorous things. Everyone is different and beautiful. We felt like we were doing things as a group, so our team colors were completely different." Seohyun also mentioned the differences in dance styles, joking, "SM values group dances, while JYP had a style of dancing by feeling. So even when we sang 'Tell Me,' we sang strongly in our own way," creating a warm atmosphere.
