Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum requested additional performances from BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan). On the 26th (local time), during a regular press conference, she revealed, "It has been reported that many young people could not purchase tickets for the performance of the globally popular K-POP artist BTS, which will be held in Mexico in May." She explained, "While over 150,000 tickets were sold in Mexico, it is understood that more than 1 million people wanted to secure seats." She continued, "I spoke with the person in charge of the regional planning company for BTS's concert in Mexico," emphasizing, "Currently, only three performances are confirmed in Mexico City, and I made a polite diplomatic request to the Prime Minister of Korea to have BTS come more frequently." However, she corrected herself mid-statement, saying, "I sent a letter to the President, not the Prime Minister." She also stated, "I hope for a positive response from Korea or that they will allow a screening." She added, "We must find ways for this group, which is very popular worldwide, especially in Mexico, to be more accessible to young people." BTS is scheduled to perform on May 7 and 9-10 at the GNP Seguros Stadium (formerly Foro Sol) in Mexico City as part of their world tour. This venue is a large stadium that can accommodate up to 60,000 people and has hosted global artists such as BLACKPINK, TWICE, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, and Metallica. Previously, on the 19th, President Claudia Sheinbaum praised BTS's concert in Mexico as a "historic performance" and requested that fairness and transparency be thoroughly maintained during the ticket sales process. In fact, tickets for the concert in Mexico went on sale at 9 AM on the 24th and sold out all seats for the three performances in just 37 minutes. The ticketing agency "Ticketmaster" described it as "one of the most intense ticket purchase competitions in recent concert history in Mexico."
