ILLIT’s new album title track is “You’re Under Arrest.” It is a song with a powerful warning aimed at someone who made the singer misunderstand them with suggestive kindness, and it foreshadows an image different from before. On September 28 at noon, ILLIT released the track list for its 5th mini album, “BREAK EVEN,” on the group’s official SNS. The new release contains a total of four songs: the title track “You’re Under Arrest,” as well as “Super in Love,” “More,” and “Pop.” The album title, “BREAK EVEN,” means the “break-even point” in a relationship where there is neither loss nor gain. ILLIT declares that they will no longer spend their feelings or time on a relationship that is not rewarded no matter how much they give. Having come straight ahead without hiding their feelings of liking someone, they are now about to face a new phase of love. “You’re Under Arrest” is the song that most clearly shows this change. Unlike the previous work “It’s Me,” in which they shouted, “Your bias is exactly me!”, this time they choose to bring the relationship to an end themselves rather than become absorbed in the other person. While keeping ILLIT’s unique frank and confident charm, their attitude toward love is even more proactive. This flow of emotions becomes even clearer along the progression of the songs. It continues from “Super in Love,” in which they realize it was a one-sided crush, to “More,” in which the embarrassment of misunderstanding the relationship with the other person turns into anger, and then to “You’re Under Arrest,” in which their emotions rise to the limit and they finally decide to cut ties with the other person. In “Pop,” which closes the album, they are instantly drawn to a new person who suddenly appears, and the mood changes completely. On this work, HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk (“hitman” bang) is listed in the credits for all songs. With his stylish production, he organically connects the emotional flow of each song and adds persuasiveness to the story贯穿ing the entire album. The image for the track list also skillfully expresses the concept of the new work. The image, created with a mail motif, comes from the “Dept. of Daily Irritation.” The members give off an atmosphere of being completely angry, with sharp gazes and stern expressions. ILLIT’s 5th mini album, “BREAK EVEN,” will be released on October 26.
