It has been decided that Mnet's new survival program 'GIRLS PLANET 2' will be produced in 2027. This time, the production team behind 'Girls Planet 999: Girls Festival,' 'BOYS PLANET,' and 'BOYS II PLANET' will start recruiting global participants for a large-scale girl group debut project in 2027. Following the birth of Kep1er in 2021, which sparked an audition boom worldwide, 'GIRLS PLANET 2' will be released as the second installment of 'Girls Planet 999: Girls Festival.' The previous season featured 99 participants from three cultural spheres: Korea, China, and Japan, but this time, the scale will expand globally, with online applications and local auditions planned worldwide. The teaser video released this time shows the appearance of a giant planet with the message 'THE BEGINNING OF A JOURNEY TO THE NEW PLANET.' Expectations are rising as participants with diverse personalities and charms gather from all over the world to weave new stories. The debut group born through this program is expected to perform on a global stage beyond Asia. Local applications and auditions will be held at 'KCON JAPAN 2026' in Makuhari, Chiba Prefecture, from May 8 to 10. The production team will announce the first results of the auditions on-site and plans to present merchandise from 'KCON JAPAN 2026.' Furthermore, global auditions will be conducted in various ways, including local auditions in North America at 'KCON LA 2026' in August, aiming to discover participants with infinite potential from around the world. ZEROBASEONE, born through 'BOYS PLANET,' has recorded million-seller status for six consecutive releases since debut. Additionally, ALPHA DRIVE ONE, debuting from 'BOYS II PLANET,' achieved million-seller status on the first day of their debut album release, surpassing 1.44 million in initial sales. They also achieved the remarkable feat of topping all three major Korean music programs with their debut song, marking a significant achievement for boy groups in nine years, as groups born from the 'PLANET' project are rewriting the history of K-POP. In light of this trend, there is now intense attention on the next 'global girl group debut project.' 'GIRLS PLANET 2' is open to any woman born on or before January 1, 2013, aiming for a global girl group. Participation is open regardless of nationality or residence, with applications starting at 8 AM on May 1. Both individual trainees and trainees affiliated with agencies, as well as those with debut experience, can apply.
