Kanmin of VERIVERY, who unfortunately missed debuting in Mnet's survival program 'BOYS II PLANET,' spoke candidly about his thoughts on a derivative group. Recently, he participated in an interview to commemorate the release of his solo album at Jellyfish Entertainment. His 1st solo single 'Free Falling' captures the time of Kanmin standing at the boundary between boyhood and adulthood. Instead of a perfect image or a confident future, it honestly expresses the anxieties and fluctuations faced while taking steps forward without having found answers yet. In the title track of the same name, Kanmin participated in the production process, reflecting his thoughts and emotions. By focusing on the attitude and atmosphere of the person rather than relying on specific settings in both music and visuals, it naturally depicts the emotions and time of 'now Kanmin.' After 7 years since debuting, Kanmin achieved his solo debut and was asked about the derivative group from 'BOYS II PLANET.' He said, 'Everything I talked about in the live stream is true. Honestly, I hadn't thought about it (the derivative group). The purpose of participating in the audition program was to debut among the eight, so I didn't think about a derivative group. I guess the chemistry was good.' He smiled and added, 'Many people wished for it, but as far as I know, there were no proposals. Because I couldn't debut in the originally planned form, I thought it was important to work for those who support me.' While there is regret about missing the chance to debut right in front of him, it seems he also has complex feelings that this experience led to his solo debut. Regarding this, Kanmin said, 'I am grateful that many people loved me on a big program. It was a program that gave me a chance to believe in myself again. I really appreciate it, thinking, 'Was I 9th there?' I feel the importance of this time even more because there was a long hiatus. He reflected, 'During the hiatus when I couldn't be active, there were times when I should have been preparing for an album but wasn't ready, and it was a bit tough being at home. I think it was really hard because I am not originally that type of person, and it was my first experience. But that's why I think I can appreciate this time now.'
