BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) is advancing legal responses regarding artist rights violations. Today (29th), their agency BIGHIT MUSIC stated, "We have been monitoring posts related to our artists on various Korean community sites (NAVER, Daum, etc.), music distribution sites (MelOn, Bugs Music, Genie Music, etc.), and overseas social media channels (X, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) during the quarter. Based on reports from fans, we have proceeded with lawsuits against the creators of malicious posts." They continued, "We maintain the principle of taking legal action without any settlements or leniency against acts that defame or insult artists, generate or spread rumors based on false information, or fabricate and disseminate false facts using AI. We inform you that fines have been imposed on those who created insulting posts about artists in online communities. We will do our best to ensure criminal penalties for ongoing investigations." They also mentioned, "Recently, there have been repeated serious violations such as illegal activities around artists' homes, attempts to approach their residences, and stalking. We promptly report to the police as soon as we confirm the facts and actively cooperate by providing necessary materials for investigations. In some cases, the prosecution has requested summary orders." Furthermore, they stated, "Unauthorized visits to residences, stalking, ambushing or watching artists near their homes, and photographing residences are all actions that threaten the privacy and safety of artists. Defamation or malicious posts regarding artists' private lives, as well as generating and spreading false rumors, are all subject to criminal penalties. Particularly, leaving items around artists' residences also constitutes stalking. These stalking behaviors cause serious mental harm to artists and are never acceptable under any circumstances. We will continue to respond at the highest level to all acts that threaten the privacy and safety of artists." They added that BTS members have been troubled by invasive fans (sasaeng fans) who cross the line. Specifically, Jungkook has been a victim of privacy violations three times. In June of this year, a 30-year-old Chinese woman attempted to break in by repeatedly pressing the entrance code and received a suspended sentence, while a 40-year-old Korean woman was sent for prosecution on suspicion of violating laws against home invasion and stalking in August. Recently, a 50-year-old Japanese woman was sent for prosecution on suspicion of attempted home invasion on December 16. - BTS imposes fines on numerous malicious online users... agency comments "We will hold them accountable until the end" - BTS ranks first in singer brand reputation for December!
