As the year-end approaches, IU donated 200 million won (about 2.17 million USD) and extended a warm hand of sharing. Her agency, EDAM Entertainment, announced today (31st) that "IU donated a total of 200 million won in the name of 'IUAENA' (IU + UAENA, the name of her fans) as the year-end approaches." This donation will be used to support various vulnerable groups such as single-parent families, youth preparing for independence, the disabled, and the elderly. The donation was distributed equally to four organizations: the Korean Single Mothers Family Association, the Child Rights Protection Institute, Love Snail, and the Uyan Foundation, each receiving 50 million won (about 540,000 USD). The funds are planned to be used for supporting single-parent families facing economic and social difficulties, preparing initial costs for children aging out of protection, providing cochlear implant surgeries and hearing aids for the hearing impaired, and food support for the elderly at risk of hunger during winter. IU has consistently donated in the name of 'IUAENA' on meaningful days each year, such as her debut anniversary, her birthday, and year-end. In March of this year, she donated 200 million won to support victims of large wildfires in Gyeonggi Province and improve the treatment of firefighters. On Children's Day, she donated 150 million won (about 1.5 million USD) for children and youth, and on her birthday and debut anniversary, she donated 200 million won each for socially vulnerable groups, continuing her warm sharing. Recently, IU won the grand prize at the 'Asia Artist Awards 2025' and '2025 SEOULCON APAN STAR AWARDS' for her Netflix series 'Thank You for Your Hard Work.' She is currently filming her next drama, 'The Great Queen of the 21st Century.'
