Netflix has released the lineup of 29 Korean original contents that will be featured in 2026. On the morning of the 21st, the 'Next on Netflix 2026' event was held at the Conrad Seoul Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul. The event was attended by directors from various content departments scheduled for release on Netflix, as well as actors such as Jung Dong-yun from 'Possible Love', Nam Joo-hyuk from 'Tonggun - Cursed Palace', Son Ye-jin from 'The Scandal', Park Eun-bin from 'Wonderfools', and chef Ahn Sung-jae from 'White and Black Spoon - Cooking Class War' Season 3. This event was the first opportunity for Netflix and the actors, who are the main players in creation, to introduce this year's lineup. Netflix revealed that there are a total of 29 Korean original works released or scheduled for release this year. First, works that will excite viewers were introduced. These include 'Can You Interpret Love?', which depicts a romance between a multilingual interpreter and a global top star, 'Monthly Boyfriend' starring BLACKPINK's Jisoo, which tells a story of subscribing to love through a virtual romance simulation, 'Love is Candy Pattern' starring Jung Hae-in and Ha Young, and 'Charge Me Up' starring Kim Young-kwang and Choi Soo-bin, among others. Works that enhance immersion also stood out. The film 'Pavane' starring Ko Ah-sung, Byun Yo-han, and Moon Sang-min, and 'Possible Love', the new work by director Lee Chang-dong, featuring Jung Dong-yun, Sol Kyung-gu, Jo In-sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong, were representative. Jung Dong-yun reflected, 'If past works were intense, this set was healing to the point of feeling unreal,' and conveyed the atmosphere of the set, saying, 'I wanted to go to the set as soon as I opened my eyes.' Along with this, 'Voice from the Last Row' starring Choi Min-sik and Choi Hyun-wook, 'The Scandal' starring Son Ye-jin, 'MOUSETRAP' starring Ryu Jun-yeol and Sol Kyung-gu, and 'TANTARA', a new work by writer Noh Hee-kyung starring Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo, hinted at deep stories. Son Ye-jin expressed confidence about 'The Scandal', saying, 'It delicately depicts the beautiful landscapes of Joseon, Hanbok, and Hanok, and will show the beauty of Korea to a global audience.' However, she also mentioned the difficulty of acting while wearing Hanbok. She said, 'This is my first historical drama since my debut, and I thought Hanbok was 'so beautiful' when I saw it, but the moment I wore it, I felt like I couldn't move at all. Since it's not a three-dimensional pattern, I wondered how people in the past lived, feeling as if my limbs were bound. It was inconvenient and the decorations were heavy. Everything felt unnatural and inconvenient. It was really difficult to maintain beauty during the months of filming.' The reunion of director Yoo In-sik and Park Eun-bin, following 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo', in 'Wonderfools', and Nam Joo-hyuk's comeback work 'Tonggun - Cursed Palace' are expected to transcend genre boundaries and bring new excitement. Nam Joo-hyuk, who joined the global lineup with 'Tonggun - Cursed Palace', expressed, 'I feel a sense of responsibility to work even harder.' He continued, 'In 'Tonggun - Cursed Palace', I played a role that travels between two worlds,' and expressed his expectations, saying, 'I think various images will be beautifully portrayed through various actions.' Park Eun-bin said, 'In 'Wonderfools', I want to show unpredictable fun as the village's official silly character,' and added, 'It's a cute and lovable character, so I hope you look forward to it.' Regarding her co-star Cha Eun-woo, who is currently serving in the military, she said, 'Is there an actor who can play this role better than him? I think he is doing well wherever he is. I wish we could promote together, but I will do my best for him, wishing for a glorious return. Fight!' The Netflix 2026 Korean original lineup is scheduled to be released sequentially throughout this year.
