Stills of TWICE’s Jeongyeon, taking a new step forward as an actress, have finally been released. New Recruit: The Movie: A Ghost Lives in the Military Hospital, which is drawing attention for its screen expansion from the New Recruit series (provided/distributed by KT Studio Genie, produced by Story Island, co-produced by KT Studio Genie, directed by Min Jin-gi, written by Yoon Ki-young and Min Jin-gi), has decided on a December 30 release and has unveiled its stills for the first time. The film New Recruit: The Movie: A Ghost Lives in the Military Hospital depicts the story of new recruits who are hospitalized in a military hospital dreaming of sweet rest, face the frightening rumors of the military hospital they believed was heaven, and uncover its secrets. With its realistic military life and a delightful ensemble of distinctive characters, it has been loved throughout the series. As news spread that Korea’s representative military content would be making its way to theaters, a theatrical release on December 30 was decided. New Recruit, which is moving to the screen, shifts its setting to a military hospital and unfolds its story there. While retaining the recruits’ cheerful tiki-taka (good chemistry and rapid back-and-forth exchanges), it is planned to deliver a different kind of genre fun by adding the activities of new characters who bring fresh tension and strange incidents that occur in the unfamiliar space of a military hospital, moving back and forth between comedy and horror. The first stills released along with the release announcement capture the cheerful 모습 of the familiar recruits gathered at the military hospital—Park Min-seok (Kim Min-ho), Choi Il-gu (Nam Tae-woo), Kang Chan-seok (Lee Jeong-hyeon), Kim Dong-woo (Jang Seong-beom), Im Da-hye (Jeong Seung-hun), Choi Byeong-nam (Kim Hee-su), and Son Yun-mo (Kim Hyeon-gyu)—as well as the mysterious atmosphere of newly joined characters, drawing attention. First, the sight of the recruits in patient clothes gathered together and all pointing at the same place as if they had discovered something suggests unpredictable incidents that will unfold in the military hospital, while also raising expectations for their unique cheerful chemistry that has been in sync for a long time. In contrast, the mysterious soldier Yu Jae-hun (Ryu Kyung-soo), who stares out the window alone, stimulates curiosity about the circumstances he is hiding with his delicate and weighty atmosphere. In particular, nursing officer Yu Jeong-yeon (Yu Jeong-yeon), who appears at the military hospital in a neat and polished manner, is drawing interest in what kind of performance she will show amid the many incidents that will unfold from now on. Meanwhile, Jeongyeon, who left JYP and moved to VARO Entertainment, where her older sister Gong Seung-yeon is signed, is making her acting debut in this work. Attention is also focused on her performance. A film industry insider cited as a highlight the “fresh chemistry between the newly joined attractive characters and the recruits amid a genre variation that moves between laughter and fear.” Related articles: • TWICE Jeongyeon confirmed to debut as an actress!
