BLACKPINK’s Rosé spoke about her recently changed attitude toward life. Fashion magazine ELLE recently unveiled the cover of its September special edition featuring Rosé as the model. Rosé, who has been immersed in producing a new album in the middle of summer since her first full-length album rosie, said, “After all, summer is a time for me to make music and a time to discover myself and my music,” and revealed, “This time I am carrying out production in Korea, but I feel that the time I spent enduring this harsh, humid heat will also be etched as one scene of the new album.” She continued, “Album production is a time to dig into everything about myself. I end up looking at even the parts of myself I do not want to face, but I feel as if I am sealing up the time I have spent that way like a time capsule.” Looking back on the past two years, Rosé said, “It was a time when I kept proving myself while asking myself, ‘Is it okay to trust my own voice, is it okay to trust myself?’” and added, “In the end, I realized that the right answer is to listen well to the voice in my heart and move forward by believing it. Now I am able to acknowledge and embrace even my weak and imperfect parts.” Rosé spoke about building her direction as an artist, saying, “I am now enjoying the process itself of searching whether I am a person who expresses personal stories or a person who creates the world I want to express.” Having lived while moving back and forth among various cities around the world, Rosé also shared a new perspective on the value of “home.” She said, “If home used to be just a space, now I learned that the mindset that can turn any space into home is more important,” and revealed, “As I became used to spending time alone, I finally started to like being with myself too.” She continued, “Before, I was a workaholic and regarded time doing nothing as meaningless, but now I have come to think that it is not bad to lie on the sofa and rest, and to slowly dry my hair.” Rosé, who recently has been enjoying small hobbies such as collecting storage boxes and starting origami, smiled and said, “There are truly so many pleasures in the world, big and small, and I want to tell myself that it is okay to enjoy the life I have been given right now to the fullest.” BLACKPINK, to which Rosé belongs, marked its 10th debut anniversary in August. To commemorate this, in February of this year they released their 3rd mini album DEADLINE together with the BLACKPINK members. On the first day of release alone, it recorded sales approaching 1.5 million copies, renewing their own best record.
