The police clarified that there are no plans to summon HYBE's Bang Si-hyuk again, who is suspected of irregular transactions. Park Jin-bo, the head of the Seoul Police Agency, stated at a regular press conference on the 23rd that 'there is no schedule for additional investigations at this time.' He added, 'If it is judged that supplementary investigations are necessary, we will conduct an investigation.' Prior to this, at a regular press conference held in December last year, Director Park had revealed that the possibility of applying for an arrest warrant for Bang Si-hyuk was 'under consideration.' Additionally, regarding the BTS comeback performance held at Gwanghwamun Square on the 21st, Director Park responded to criticisms that police regulations were excessive by stating, 'We must overreact regarding citizen safety,' and emphasized that safety was prioritized considering the threat of terrorism due to the situation in the Middle East. Previously, in 2020, Bang Si-hyuk was suspected of misleading existing HYBE investors by falsely claiming there were no plans for an IPO (initial public offering) and selling shares in a private fund established by HYBE executives, which violated capital market laws. Investors believed Bang's words and sold their holdings, but in reality, HYBE was undergoing pre-IPO procedures at that time. As a result, he is reported to have gained unjust profits of 190 billion won (approximately 1.9 billion USD).
