Wooyoung of 2PM spoke about his trust in JYP Entertainment representative Park Jin-young (J.Y. Park). On September 15 at 6 PM, Wooyoung released his 3rd mini-album 'I'm into' through various music distribution sites. This album includes a total of 5 songs, starting with 'Think Too Much (Feat. DAMINI)', followed by 'Carpet', 'Swamp', 'Reality', and 'Homecance'. Wooyoung, credited on all songs, expressed moments of being engrossed in daily life through diverse sounds, lyrics, and performances, proving once again his capabilities as an all-rounder artist with vocal, dance, songwriting, and composing skills. The title track 'Think Too Much', which Wooyoung wrote and composed himself, is a song that harmonizes a sophisticated funky sound with a witty melody and a relatable message for deep thinkers. What was producer Park Jin-young's reaction to the new song? Recently, in an interview with Newsen at a café in Gangnam, Seoul, Wooyoung said, 'Recently, Jin-young brother has been working in a way that doesn’t involve much direct communication. Of course, I am curious about what Jin-young brother thinks.' He explained, 'When I try to ask Jin-young brother, I have to do it the way he wants. For example, it feels like a parent saying you have to study this way and go to this university; I think Jin-young brother is like that. He has that much affection. He tells me, 'Wooyoung, you have to dance. If you don’t dance, who will?' If there are discussions at dinner parties, I would say, 'It’s not that I don’t want to dance,' and I would just brush it off.' Wooyoung continued, 'As the company has grown, changes are happening so that decisions are not made solely by Jin-young brother. He is also opening it up so that everyone can give their opinions and make decisions. It seems he is trying to be less involved so that the artist can align with what they want as much as possible. It has become a better situation to ask or inquire from me.' He also mentioned, 'I try to be careful about how it sounds, like, 'Brother said no, but how about this?' or 'Look, we can do it well ourselves, right?' I want to hear if he thinks differently, but he is very busy. I don’t think it means we are distancing ourselves, nor that he doesn’t need to know. I think if he really thought it was different, he would contact me. I think he is satisfied, so there is no contact now,' he said with a laugh. The performance of the new song was choreographed in line with Park Jin-young's opinion that 'Wooyoung must dance.' He joked, 'Recently, when I did a challenge with Stray Kids, I got a message from brother. He used the expression, 'Wooyoung, you’re really good, it’s crazy.' It seems he has learned that expression recently. I joked that I did it lightly so Hyunjin wouldn’t feel down. I thought he would be watching. If it was really bad this time, I think he would contact me then.' This month, Park Jin-young was appointed as co-chairman of the Public Culture Exchange Committee. The committee was newly established to create a public-private cooperation system necessary for the dissemination of popular culture such as music, drama, movies, and games, in a situation where global interest in Korean culture is high. It is unusual for an active artist to be appointed. When asked what he thought about this, Wooyoung replied, 'To be honest, I’ve only been thinking about my album lately,' making everyone laugh. He added, 'I thought he was going to do something big. He is a big person, after all. It’s honestly hard to even imagine just thinking about this company. He has been doing this as a top. I’m putting all my effort into just one album. He has that much experience and various efforts and experiences that have become his foundation. I don’t know anything, but I think so.' He continued, 'I respect and admire Jin-young brother. The reason I still want to stay in this company is that he is the one who allows us to do our music properly. I think he will continue to take responsibility and open that page. He must have his own thoughts and plans. On one hand, I think that courage is really amazing. It might be an exaggerated expression, but he is doing things that no one has done before, which tend to be cautious and difficult, so I think that’s why people’s attention is on him. Learning that kind of courage is a big part for us.' Wooyoung also mentioned the full group comeback of 2PM. 'I think about various things, but I really want to do it. We have been talking about it for a long time, but really, when we were younger, during 'I'll Be Back' and 'HANDS UP', we talked about 'What will we do in the future?' When one or two members want to do their own thing, we talked about not putting pressure on each other to gather as six. Because everyone has their own lives. There are things they want to take a break from, and if they have things they want to do, we said we should talk about it honestly. We talked about respecting each other without putting too much burden on each other.' He added, 'We did our own activities like that, and we also did 'Make it' activities in 2021 and had our 15th-anniversary performance. I want to gather more often, but we are busy with our own activities, and we have a big feeling of respect for each other. When I meet the members recently, we talk about more realistic and substantial plans than before,' raising expectations.
