Netflix, which will live stream BTS's comeback performance, spoke about the significance of this performance. A pre-media briefing for 'BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG' was held today (20th) morning at the Cinecube Gwanghwamun in Jongno District, Seoul. Attendees included Branden Lee, VP of Netflix's Non-Fiction Series and Sports Division, Kim Hyun-jung, VP of BIGHIT MUSIC, Yoo Dong-joo, APAC representative of HYBE, and Garrett English, executive producer. Regarding the reason for this collaboration, Branden Lee stated, 'It is glorious that Netflix and HYBE have partnered at this moment. Netflix is focused on entertaining the world, so it was clear that we should not miss this moment. I am happy to convey such an event to ARMY (the name of the fans) and viewers around the world through a shared experience.' He expressed gratitude for being able to share Korean content globally, stating, 'We have always been passionate fans of Korean content. We are grateful to share this event with the world, not just 'Squid Game' and 'KPOP Girls! Demon Hunters.' He added, 'As we have done so far, we believe we will continue to lead. This also shows how much trust we have in K-culture.' He emphasized, 'I believe there is no greater moment than the meaning of BTS and this performance, and I personally look forward to sharing such a great moment. I think it is special and an honor to be together in a historical space like Gwanghwamun.' He also mentioned plans to hold viewing parties in various countries, creating opportunities for BTS fans to experience the event in real-time. He believes this will be a valuable experience to share. Regarding plans to expand live streaming, he said, 'What I hope is to provide an experience where the largest pop culture events can happen on Netflix anytime around the world.' He added, 'Not only that, but I wanted to show how possible collaboration with Netflix is for the members and stakeholders who joined us. I believe this moment will be a sight we have never seen before. I think there will be various opportunities in the future. There are ongoing conversations about things I cannot talk about now. I believe you will see more large-scale, heart-pounding live moments in the future.' Finally, he stated, 'The reason we continue to collaborate with Korea is simply that we are fans of Korean culture. Also, we prioritize bringing joy to Netflix members, so we cannot miss that opportunity.' He added, 'We plan to continue live events in Korea. We are also continuing to invest in infrastructure. You will likely see further expansion and even more exciting live events in the future.' Yoo Dong-joo, APAC representative, spoke about why the performance is being held at Gwanghwamun, linking it to BTS's identity. He said, 'I thought this comeback, after about four years, is a historical moment that depicts BTS's journey. Chairman Bang Si-hyuk, who oversaw this comeback, said that if BTS, which started in Korea and became a global superstar, is to make a comeback, the starting point must be Korea, and it must be the most iconic place in Korea.' He further stated, 'This comeback is also connected to HYBE's vision. The experience of fans and the public, Koreans and foreigners, enjoying the performance together at Korea's most iconic place is a culturally rare experience. I think it is very meaningful to spread this globally.' He expressed that Netflix is the most suitable partner for this project, where they will create iconic scenes with many global fans in such a symbolic space in Seoul. 'This will not just be a performance; it will surely become a historical event.' Kim Hyun-jung, VP, commented on BTS's new album title 'ARIRANG,' saying, 'BTS has always conveyed what they want to express and the emotions they feel through music.' He added, 'I hope 'ARIRANG' will be received as an album that encapsulates the current emotions and messages of BTS.' He explained that the album, which is being released today, is the result of many deliberations by the members, Chairman Bang Si-hyuk, and the producers during the production process. 'As the title suggests, 'ARIRANG' is an album that starts from BTS's identity and roots. We prepared it in both Korean and English to ensure as many people as possible can understand the message.' He added, 'I hope it becomes an album that not only fans who have liked BTS until now but also those who may not know much about BTS can enjoy across generations.' BTS will hold 'BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG' on the 21st at 8 PM in the Gwanghwamun Square area. This is the first live event Netflix will stream from Korea to the world and is also a music performance.
