The musical "The Laughing Man" has released the cast lineup along with the poster for its fourth season. EMK's original musical "The Laughing Man" is based on the original novel praised by the great literary giant Victor Hugo, who said, "I could not write a greater work than this." It has created a new horizon for original musicals by appropriately reimagining the intricately woven story structure of the great master into a musical format. Set against the backdrop of 17th-century England, where class discrimination was severe, it critiques a world where social justice and humanity have collapsed through the life of Gwynplaine, who has a terrifying monster's face but possesses purity, deeply exploring the values of human dignity and equality. With the fourth season of the musical "The Laughing Man" approaching, the newly released poster evokes the image of a performance poster that a wandering theater troupe from the 17th century might actually use. In the faded and torn poster over time, the vivid red logo symbolizing Gwynplaine's torn mouth immediately captures attention while encapsulating the work's historical background and identity. Each season of the musical "The Laughing Man" has seen top Korean actors shine, creating unforgettable characters, and there is great anticipation for the new faces returning in the fourth performance. Profile photos utilizing actual stage sets have been released, heightening expectations for the musical "The Laughing Man" that will begin in early 2025. The sensual young man Gwynplaine, who has an indelible smile and plays a clown in the wandering theater troupe, will be portrayed by Park Eun-tae, SG WANNABE's Lee Seok-hoon, SUPER JUNIOR's Kyuhyun, and NCT's Doyoung. Park Eun-tae, who joined as a new cast member for Gwynplaine in 2022, will also participate in the fourth season. Having starred in major productions like "Frankenstein," "Elisabeth," "Beethoven: Beethoven Secret," and "Kinky Boots," Park Eun-tae has showcased overwhelming presence with his explosive singing ability and delicate emotional performances. His character interpretation, which conveys deep insight, has garnered much attention for his portrayal of Gwynplaine. Lee Seok-hoon, who also excelled in the role of Gwynplaine during the 2020 revival, will return once again. With his warm singing voice and exceptional musical interpretation, he will take the stage in a more mature form. As a member of SG WANNABE and a solo vocalist, he has solidified his status as a musical actor through performances in "Marie Antoinette," "Kinky Boots," and "A Gentleman's Guide," raising audience expectations for his portrayal of Gwynplaine. Kyuhyun, who made a memorable impression as Gwynplaine in the 2020 revival, will also return. With his sweet singing voice and delicate emotional acting that expresses the depths of the character, Kyuhyun has showcased his strengths through musicals like "Frankenstein," "Ben-Hur," and "Phantom," and his overwhelming stage presence as Gwynplaine is expected to deeply move the audience. Doyoung, who made his musical debut in 2021 with "Marie Antoinette," will meet the audience in "The Laughing Man." With high popularity both domestically and internationally, Doyoung has received acclaim for his stable acting and singing ability in his debut work. His return in a more mature form as Gwynplaine in "The Laughing Man" is anticipated to solidify his status as a musical actor. The role of Ursus, a misanthrope who hates humanity but nurtures Gwynplaine and Dea with affection, will be played by Seo Bom-seok and Min Yong-ki. Seo Bom-seok, who has reached his 30th year as a musical actor, has appeared in major works such as "Notre Dame de Paris," "Death Note," "Man of La Mancha," "Beyond the Wind Hill/West Convenience," "Empress Myeongseong," "Subway Line 1," "Mozart!", and "Winter Sonata." His portrayal of Ursus, with profound emotional acting, is sure to pique curiosity. Min Yong-ki, who has starred in numerous productions such as "Rebecca" and "Excalibur," will also take the stage in the fourth season, continuing to impress audiences with his powerful singing and charismatic performances. The role of Dea, a character with a pure heart who is blind but gazes at Gwynplaine with her soul, will be played by Lee Soo-bin and Chang Hae-rin. Lee Soo-bin, who has received acclaim for her portrayal of Dea since the premiere, will return this season. She has perfectly portrayed Dea with her delicate and certain skills, receiving praise. After honing her acting skills in various fields, including the musicals "Mary Poppins," "Mamma Mia!", and the drama "King the Land," expectations are high for Lee Soo-bin's more mature performance. Chang Hae-rin, who made a deep impression in her debut last year with "Ben-Hur," will also take on the role of Dea. Having received acclaim for her excellent singing and delicate acting in her debut stage, she has shown growth as a musical actor by playing Rosalie La Morlière in the musical "Versailles." There is much interest in Chang Hae-rin's portrayal of Dea, as she has achieved remarkable growth. The role of Josiana, the half-sister of the queen, a wealthy noblewoman who has everything but is empty inside, will be played by Kim So-hyang and Lisa. Kim So-hyang, who created a captivating Josiana in 2020 and 2022, will take the stage in the fourth season as well. Actively performing in both large and small theaters with musicals like "Marie Antoinette," "Frida," "Benjamin Button," and "Ridge," she left a deep impression with her dramatic emotional acting that oscillates between love and ambition in the previous season of "The Laughing Man," and her performance is highly anticipated. Lisa, a singer and musical actor, will join as a new cast member for Josiana. Meeting the audience as the new Josiana, she has appeared in numerous works such as "Versailles," "Frida," "Rebecca," and "Marie Curie," boasting an overwhelming presence. Her explosive singing ability and delicate acting are sure to captivate the audience, sparking curiosity about her new charm. Additionally, the ambitious Lord David will be played by Park Si-won and Kang Tae-yul. The cunning servant Pedro, filled with hatred and jealousy, will be portrayed by Moon Seong-hyuk. The selfish Queen Anne, the ruler of the British Empire, will be played by Kim Yong-joo and Kim Ji-seon. The musical "The Laughing Man" will open on January 9 next year at the Seoul Arts Center Opera Theater.
