Today, December 1, LAPONE Entertainment announced through their official site that the contract with JO1 member Tsuruho Shion will end on December 31, 2025. LAPONE Entertainment published news titled 'Report Regarding Tsuruho Shion.' They stated, 'Our affiliated artist Tsuruho Shion will complete his exclusive management contract with us and end his activities as JO1 on December 31, 2025.' They also mentioned, 'During the hiatus, we had repeated discussions about the possibility of resuming activities with him, the company, and other members. As a result, he expressed a strong intention to end his contract and activities, along with deep remorse towards fans, members, and related parties. We respect this intention and have reached this conclusion.' At the same time, a message from Tsuruho Shion was posted on JO1's official site. In the message, he stated, 'It has been about five months since I went on hiatus. During this time, I had time to think about various things and decided not to renew my contract and to end my activities as JO1.' He also conveyed to fans, 'To all JAM, thank you for supporting me and the members of JO1 for about six and a half years, including the auditions. I love you all.' Tsuruho Shion announced a 10-day suspension of activities on May 31 due to the use of an online casino. He announced a resumption of activities on June 10, but after being sent documents on June 16, he announced another hiatus on June 20. It was revealed on August 7 that he was charged with gambling offenses. JO1 is a group formed from the Japanese version of the hit program 'PRODUCE 101 JAPAN,' which aired on the music channel 'Mnet' and gained immense popularity, becoming a social phenomenon. The group has been popular since it was formed in December 2019 through the TBS series, with 11 members decided through the program. They debuted as a globally active boy group on March 4, 2020, with the single 'PROTOSTAR.'
