On August 18, Joy of Red Velvet released her 1st mini-album "From JOY, with Love." All songs were made available through music distribution sites, and the music video for the title track "Love Splash!" was also released simultaneously on the SMTOWN YouTube channel. This album consists of six tracks depicting various love stories, including a pop dance song "Love Splash!" that Joy participated in writing, allowing listeners to fully enjoy Joy's overwhelming musical world. -- It has been about four years since the special album, and now I am releasing my 1st mini-album. How do you feel about it? Joy: I felt it was vague and difficult to release an album that I put my heart into, but thanks to everyone's support, I was able to present it to the world, and I am truly grateful lately. Since this is an album I prepared with my best efforts, I hope many people will listen to it and love it. -- Since this is my 1st mini-album, I believe a lot of affection was poured into it. What was the most important aspect you focused on while preparing this album? Joy: This time, I focused on what I wanted to convey. To find that answer, I had to keep asking myself questions. I wanted to express the greatness and importance of love that I felt while overcoming difficult moments. The biggest challenge was to express the deep and vast theme of love in a way that isn't difficult. Additionally, I paid attention to incorporating my personality into both the music and visuals. -- Please introduce the title track "Love Splash!" If you have a reason for choosing it as the title track, please share. Joy: The title track "Love Splash!" is a song that blends the fresh and exciting feelings of falling in love for the first time with a thrilling beat and beautiful lyrics and melody. I chose it as the title track because it was the song that I could most vividly imagine on stage and in the music video, and I was confident that I could express the lovely melody well with my voice. I thought it had the most easily imaginable mood related to love, so I made it the title track. -- What are the highlights of the music video for "Love Splash!"? If you have any memorable episodes from the filming, please share. Joy: The highlights of the "Love Splash!" music video are the analog and vintage color tones, the cute and kitschy clothes and props, and above all, the storyline that expresses the lovely atmosphere of the song. A memorable episode was when I had to film a fighting scene with the male lead model, Yugo Takano, when we first met, which was an embarrassing moment, but he accepted my opinions well, and we were able to film smoothly and comfortably. -- We shot four album covers with the theme of love; if there is a concept or outfit that stands out the most, please share. Joy: "Friendship Love" stands out the most in my memory. If someone asks me about "Friendship Love," I can confidently say it is Red Velvet and ReVeluv (the name of Red Velvet's fanbase). So, during the shoot, I ordered a custom-made uniform that reminds me of Red Velvet. I was immersed in memories throughout the shoot. -- Besides the title track, which song from the album would you recommend? Joy: I recommend the song "Unwritten Page," which contains the most important message about love that I believe in. The lyrics I participated in writing reflect a time when I couldn't take care of myself, and now as an adult, I wanted to convey a message of comfort and encouragement to my past self. It is also a message I want to share with many young people who are struggling now. I hope many people listen to this song and find small comforts in their daily lives. -- You participated in writing the lyrics for the album tracks. Especially for "Get Up And Dance," which you wrote and composed alone, how was the process? Were there any particular points you focused on in the lyrics? Joy: The moment I heard this song, I envisioned two people who are fated to fall in love passionately. I wanted to convey a certain level of alluring tension in the lyrics rather than just fun, which was quite challenging. Particularly, the verses in the first and second parts have a vibe like reading a risky romance novel, and I put a lot of effort into utilizing the rhythm of the lyrics. -- Recently, what has Joy been really into? Joy: Lately, I feel like I've been thinking about my album "From JOY, with Love" 24/7. I hope many people will fall in love with my 1st mini-album just like I have. -- Recently, through "I Live Alone," you have been loved a lot, and you made a solo comeback. If you have any future activity plans or goals you want to achieve, please share. Joy: I always want to engage in activities that convey my inner honesty and sincerity. For the time being, I plan to devote myself to showcasing the new album I worked hard on to the world. If I have a goal, it is to have as many people as possible listen to my album! -- Finally, please say a word to all the fans around the world who have been waiting for your comeback. Joy: To my fans, my long-awaited 1st mini-album is finally out! It is because you all have been looking forward to it and loving me that I could release it! I will become someone who returns the love I received with even greater love! Thank you always. I love you.
