BLACKPINK was awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) by King Charles III of the United Kingdom. On the 22nd (local time), King Charles III awarded the MBE to all four members of BLACKPINK at a cultural and arts encouragement event held at Buckingham Palace. President Yun Suk-yol and his wife, who were visiting the UK as state guests, also attended the event. BLACKPINK was recognized for their efforts as climate change ambassadors at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in the UK in 2021, and were awarded the MBE for raising awareness of the need for climate change action worldwide. The MBE is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to British society or achieved outstanding results in fields such as politics, economics, culture, arts, science, and sports. Prior recipients include the British rock band The Beatles and singer Adele. On the 21st, BLACKPINK was also invited to a welcome dinner hosted by King Charles III for President Yun Suk-yol.
