The production team of JTBC's 'PROJECT 7' clarified after being pointed out for power harassment towards the audience. Today (the 4th), the production team of 'PROJECT 7' announced an official comment stating, 'We confirmed the facts regarding excessive personal information and identity verification matters.' Previously, net users who participated as audience members for 'PROJECT 7' raised criticism about the excessive identity verification procedures. One user revealed through X (formerly Twitter) what was needed to attend 'PROJECT 7': '1. An ID with a photo exactly matching the current state of the person. If there is any makeup or correction and it looks different, you fail to the next stage. 2. You are asked to state your address. If you have moved or can't remember because it's old, or if your voice trembles or stutters even a little, you fail. 3. Kakao certificate. If you don't have it, you must issue it so that the screen is visible to the person. 4. NAVER certificate. 5. A card with the person's name on it. 6. Open your photo gallery immediately and show unpublished selfies with only yourself in them. 7. The final hurdle. You must bring a registration transcript.' Another net user complained, 'What's really ridiculous is that after verifying everything (residence registration, bank, government 24, Kakao, NAVER), I couldn't get a wristband for the audience, and in the end, I was made to call my mother without any apology, and I was scolded by someone who seemed to be the team leader because they didn't like my attitude.' In response, the production team stated, 'Since PROJECT 7 is the first audition to create a global idol strengthened by the power of fans, identity verification procedures are absolutely necessary for the first competition where on-site voting takes place.' They explained that they had informed the audience in advance about the potential inconveniences caused by the identity verification process, but misunderstandings arose during this process. They continued, '1. Verification of ID at the same time as the creation of a consent form. 2. If the applicant's date of birth differs from the information on the ID, verification of address and phone number. 3. Subsequently, additional verification was conducted in stages with mobile phone certificates and photos.' They confirmed that most audience members completed verification at stage 1 and that there was only one case that reached stage 3. They added, 'Until now, the production team directly managed audience entry, but in this case, due to a surge in applications, we entrusted entry management to existing other survival viewing management companies, and misunderstandings likely arose during that process.' They apologized for any discomfort felt by some audience members. 'PROJECT 7' is a new concept idol audition program that allows viewers to participate in selecting participants directly from the first vote and through each round, thereby nurturing their favorites. It will start broadcasting in Korea on the 18th at 8:50 PM.
