As a member of SF9, Rowoon, who is currently active as an actor, spoke about his feelings ahead of his military enlistment. Today (15th), during an interview at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno District, Seoul, for the Disney+ original series "Turbulence" (scripted by Jeong Seong-il, directed by Joo Chang-min), he revealed his determination ahead of his enlistment in the Army on the 27th. He greeted, "I will dedicate myself to the country." "Since my enlistment was postponed once, I did everything I needed to do. I met everyone, traveled with my parents, and even took photos of myself with a shaved head, but I felt a bit embarrassed about the postponement. Thanks to that, I was able to participate in the Busan International Film Festival and carry out promotional activities and interviews, which I think was good. I am scheduled to be discharged in April 2027, but I want to return to work quickly. I feel grateful that I might be forgotten during my military service. I want to show a cool image when I return. Even in the military, I plan to take care of my skin with sunscreen and be careful not to get too big. While imagining my post-discharge self, Rowoon said, "I want to wear a uniform again when I return from the military. I’ve been told that cutting my hair short makes me look younger, and recently I've had to show my ID three times for age verification. It’s a joke, but I definitely feel that way. When I return, I plan to work without rest, regardless of genre, and I want to participate in interesting romantic comedies and challenge myself in movies. I have no intention of resting." He added, "By the time I return from the military, I will be in my 30s, but I think I will be very sexy. I’m looking forward to what’s to come. I also have the expectation that I can gain many experiences while relaxing a bit." Regarding military life with people in their early 20s, he said, "I still have some immature aspects mentally, so I think I can manage without forcing myself. I just need to study the words used by the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z). Since the military organization has clear hierarchies, once I enter such an organization, I just need to do what I should do and not do what I shouldn’t do, so it might actually be easier. I think it’s a detox for my body and soul." To fans waiting for his discharge, he said, "I think I can adapt to military service, and I will fulfill my military duty coolly, so there’s no need to worry. I hope you look forward to me after enlistment. There are many of my works on OTT (video streaming services), so please enjoy them during the year and a half." He also showed extraordinary passion for acting, saying, "I think my passion for acting has grown as I’ve accumulated works. I had a strong feeling that if I’m going to do it, I have to do it properly, and I wanted to do well, but sometimes I didn’t even know why I wanted to do well. In 'Accidentally Found Hal,' there was a scene where Hal dies. That scene was very sad, and I could naturally concentrate. I think that’s when I started to find acting interesting and wanted to take it seriously." He reflected, "I always thought I did my best. I had been putting in effort even as a supporting actor or an extra, but I couldn’t enjoy it. I think I became able to enjoy it even when it was tough from 'Accidentally Found Hal.' My mindset hasn’t changed, but I’ve become able to enjoy the painful and difficult moments. I’ve come to recognize that preparing like this is who I am, and this is my true self." Looking back on the time since his debut, he conveyed that time has flown by, saying, "I still feel like I’m 20 or 21, but it’s been 9 years since my debut. I think I’ve done well so far, and I have confidence that I can continue to do so. At the same time, I’m impressed with myself." He often talks about acting with close actors, saying, "I used to hear a lot about why I was thinking so hard. I thought about how much meaning I was trying to convey and why I was thinking so much, and I exchanged a lot of such conversations. When viewers and audiences watch, if sincerity isn’t visible, is it good acting? When acting doesn’t go well, I’m often told to go to the market and see how people live." He conveyed gratitude, saying, "This time, Lee Dong-wook said, 'Rowoon, good job in 'Turbulence,' and senior Joo Ji-hoon said, 'You did well, good work.' (Hyung) Bongsik and fellow actors also said, 'You made a good choice' and 'It’s interesting,' and I’m grateful."
