
BTS's SUGA supported children who successfully finished the founding concert as 'Severance MIND Band' yesterday (9th) at 7 PM in the Yonsei University auditorium. The 'Min Yungi Therapy Center' established with SUGA's 5 billion won (about 5.3 million USD) donation in September this year operates an art-integrated therapy program that teaches instrument playing and ensemble, aiming for social and economic independence for children with autism spectrum disorder. The children choose their desired instruments and participate in ensemble, gaining experience in order and communication through a music-based group therapy program, which is effective for children who find verbal communication difficult. The children who participated in the music-based therapy program at the Min Yungi Therapy Center formed a band and prepared for months since this summer, performing yesterday at the 1,600-seat Yonsei University auditorium, showcasing their honed skills. On this day, the children played various percussion instruments, saxophones, clarinets, guitars, and sang songs, presenting pieces like Leopold Mozart's 'Toy Symphony,' Jatanpung's 'I to You, You to Me,' and Loveholics' 'Butterfly.' The concert, hosted by announcer Kim Il-jun, began with a celebratory video from SUGA, who called out each child's name and sent warm encouragement. Additionally, famous musicians, including the Dream With Ensemble, Korea's first performance group for developmental disabilities, and guitarist Park Shin-won, who has performed live with many idols including BTS, participated. Director Jeong Gun-na expressed gratitude, stating, 'When we started this project, I couldn't imagine a day like today would come, and during the preparation process, I witnessed the miracle of goodwill begetting goodwill,' and added, 'Through the MIND program and concert practice, the children developed patience and learned to wait harmoniously with others.' He further conveyed deep gratitude to BTS's SUGA for making all this possible. All ticket proceeds will be used as donations for the Min Yungi Therapy Center.
