EXO's Suho has made a comeback with the 4th mini-album 'Who Are You'. Released on the 22nd of this month, the 4th mini-album 'Who Are You' includes 7 songs, featuring the title track 'Who Are You', which has garnered attention as Suho's version of 'breakup BGM'. Additionally, a music video showcasing a road trip scene enjoying freedom, filmed in Australia, was also released simultaneously. The title track 'Who Are You' is an alternative rock genre song that combines a rough tone of electric guitar and bass with a catchy melody. The lyrics capture the moment of facing the atmosphere of parting, even without clear words, and can be listened to in both Korean and English versions. Other tracks include 'Golden Hour', in which Suho participated in the lyrics, as well as 'Light The Fire', 'Medicine', 'Birthday', and 'Fadeout', showcasing a variety of rock music. -- Please tell us your thoughts on your solo comeback. Suho: Despite being my 4th mini-album, I am nervous and excited. As always, there were many tough moments while preparing the album, but now I am satisfied with my album and confident. Over the past year and 4 months, I have gained many experiences and learned a lot. Therefore, I prepared this album paying attention to the details. I hope my efforts will reach those who listen. -- You have showcased various rock genres with each album release, but what is the difference between the previous and this album? Suho: The previous album was created while focusing on myself, asking myself questions like what kind of person I am and what kind of artist I am. However, this time, I shifted my focus externally, considering what kind of person and artist Suho is in the eyes of the listeners and EXO-L (EXO fans), and what music they would like to hear from me. I think that is the biggest difference. -- How would you define the 'Suho genre'? Suho: In a word, it would be 'a band sound with unexpected charm' (laughs). First of all, I have a clear idea of the music I like, so I think a band sound is essential to the 'Suho genre'. The atmosphere of the music is mainly dark and seems minor, but I aim to convey a positive message, so I believe you will feel an unexpected charm. -- Please introduce the title track 'Who Are You'. Suho: When I first heard the melody, I wanted people to enjoy it while driving, but as I listened to it more, I realized it also contained sadness and complex emotions within a parting situation, which made it even more attractive. I am curious about how everyone feels about it. The English version is also included, which was one of my promises. Earlier this year, while spending time in America, I gained a lot of inspiration, and at that time, I thought I would definitely include an English version of the title track when releasing a new album. I chose the title track because I believe it has relatable lyrics and a catchy melody, so I hope you will listen to it. -- Please share a memorable episode from the album production process. Suho: For the track 'Medicine', I did the recording corrections three times, totaling about 14 hours of recording. Strangely, this song resonated with me so much (laughs), and I worked hard to convey the emotions I felt 100%. I didn't sleep much during that time... Also, the music video for the title track 'Who Are You' was filmed in Australia, and it was my first time doing an overseas shoot for a solo album, which felt new. The weather in Australia was really nice. It rained and stopped, then it was sunny and cloudy again, which reminded me of the weather in London, England, which I like, and I have happy memories of that. -- You participated in writing the lyrics for the track 'Golden Hour', where did you get your inspiration? Also, what is your favorite lyric? Suho: I like to run while watching the sunset, and I think that time is very beautiful. From that, I thought that spending time with a loved one might be the golden hour of life, and I wrote the lyrics. My favorite part is 'You're my golden hour' because I think the emotions in the song can be felt clearly. -- You are also planning to perform the track 'Medicine', and I hear it's your first time dancing on a solo stage. What was the reason for structuring the performance? Suho: While spending time in America, I saw various performances and suddenly thought that performance and dance are essential in K-POP. Therefore, I wanted my music to have my own performance, so I met with a choreographer from April and studied various videos for four months. We created the choreography together and also came up with ideas for the music video. Since it includes acting like a musical, I don't know how people will feel about it, but I think you will encounter a performance that is uniquely mine. -- Many fans have started running inspired by your dedication to running, but if you had to choose a song from this album to listen to while running, which one would it be? Suho: I recommend 'Light The Fire'. It's a completely rock genre song, so I think it will help you run more powerfully. -- What was the reaction of EXO members when they listened to your new songs? Suho: Chanyeol loved 'Medicine' and said the choreography was interesting and fun. Kai liked 'Who Are You', saying it was addictive and that once you listen to it, you want to hear it again right away (laughs). -- Lastly, please give a message to EXO-L. Suho: I am always grateful to EXO-L. I think it's because you love my music as 'Suho's music', but this time I hope you can listen to it casually and find songs that suit your taste. I will always show you new sides of myself and repay your love with better music and performances. I love you!
