SM Entertainment has released a comment regarding the defamation against aespa's WINTER. Today (10th), SM Entertainment, the agency of aespa, announced, "We would like to inform you about the progress of legal actions for the protection of the rights of our artist aespa's WINTER." They stated, "We take the seriousness of the malicious posts and comments (sexual harassment, defamation, personal attacks, insults, privacy violations, deepfakes, etc.) that are continuously seen against our artists very seriously." They continued, "We have confirmed numerous malicious posts aimed at WINTER that defame her character and honor, and malicious posts intended to publicly defame the artist, as well as posts that constitute sexual harassment across various platforms. After scrutinizing the relevant posts, we plan to gradually expand the legal proceedings." Furthermore, they emphasized that they are proceeding with criminal complaints and civil claims against those who have made malicious posts related to aespa, and have secured a large amount of evidence regarding the generation of malicious rumors, the repetition and spread of false information, posts that constitute sexual harassment, and the production and distribution of mocking and distorted content on personal SNS, online communities, and anonymous bulletin boards, and will take a firm stance without leniency. Prior to this, this month, rumors of a romantic relationship between BTS's Jungkook and aespa's WINTER resurfaced, drawing attention as they were said to have similar tattoos of three puppies on their arms. In response, SM stated, "We have no comment."
