GOT7's Jinyoung and former IZ*ONE member Kim Minju showcase a full-fledged romance in the new drama 'Light of Love.' Today (5th) afternoon, a production presentation for JTBC's new Friday series 'Light of Love' (script: Lee Sugyeong, directed by Kim Yoonjin) was held at The Link Hotel in the Guro district of Seoul. On this day, director Kim Yoon-jin, Jinyoung, and Kim Minju attended. The drama 'Light of Love' depicts the process of young people who shared a world of just the two of them becoming the very light that illuminates the direction of their lives through mutual trust. There is a strong interest in the co-starring of the two young actors, Jinyoung (playing Yeong Taeso) and Kim Minju (playing Mo Una), who have established themselves as 'icons of first love' through various works. The two actors, who possess both freshness and delicate sensibility, are expected to immerse themselves in the lives of Yeong Taeso and Mo Una, completing a deep romantic chemistry. Here, director Kim Yoon-jin, who has showcased emotional directing power in dramas like 'That Year, We' and 'Say I Love You,' and scriptwriter Lee Sugyeong, known for her delicate writing in films like 'Spring Days Pass' and dramas like 'The Way to the Airport,' have come together. With the combination of a director and writer who have shaken the hearts of many viewers, along with a lineup of reliable actors, fresh synergy is expected to be displayed. In the drama, Yeong Taeso meets Mo Una for the first time at his new school during summer vacation in his senior year of high school. Yeong Taeso, who lives each day to the fullest, and Mo Una, who continues to struggle with the direction she should take while pursuing her dreams, support and love each other through their intense days, accumulating precious memories of first love. However, shortly after, at the age of 20, the two face a painful breakup and will reunite at the age of 30. The memories and emotions from that time, which remain vivid even after a long time, will shake the now-adult versions of the two again. Attention is focused on whether Yeong Taeso and Mo Una, who were each other's light, can once again become a light-like presence in each other's worlds in this youth romance that touches everyone's heart. On this day, director Kim Yoon-jin revealed, 'When I first received the script, I thought that the writer did not progress the story based on a major event, but considered the characters as ordinary people. I felt it was very similar to what I experienced.' She continued, 'The process of the seasons changing can be read from the text. As the seasons pass and time accumulates, it has been built up to be visually and sensorially fulfilling. It shows a story development that draws universal feelings into personal emotions.' She added, 'I thought that when they reunite at the age of 30, it would remain special.' She metaphorically stated, 'If the previous work 'That Year, We' was a character like early summer, 'Light of Love' can be said to encompass all four seasons and meet again in spring.' Jinyoung spoke about his co-starring with Kim Minju, saying, 'The director had us do a lot of script readings. Some days we did it for 10 hours. If we still couldn't get close and didn't sync, I thought it was our problem.' He said, 'We really worked hard on the readings and became very close.' When asked about his thoughts on Kim Minju's acting skills as a senior from the idol world, Jinyoung replied, 'In terms of my career as a singer, I am a senior, but in the drama and film scene, we feel very much like colleagues. I think romance dramas are established based on whether 'it looks like that character.' From the beginning, I could see Minju as the character. No matter what action she took, she looked like that character, so I could trust her from the first shoot. We were able to film happily without any difficulties.' Kim Minju shared, 'I will be playing a character experiencing their teens, twenties, and thirties for the first time. I had many worries, but it was fun to portray it three-dimensionally. I struggled to express a thirties character that I had never experienced, but I discussed a lot with the director and asked my friends.' She said, 'There were limits to what could be shown through appearance. I thought about how this child's attitude and values changed while creating the character.' When asked if Jinyoung was reliable, she responded, 'He was very helpful. I really talked a lot with him as a senior.' She added, 'He always made me feel relaxed on set. We discussed the script a lot.' Jinyoung, when asked if he felt pressure after the high praise for his previous work 'Unknown Seoul,' said, 'It would be a lie to say I don't feel nervous or pressured.' He explained, 'As an actor approaching the work, I think it is important to eliminate that as much as possible for the next project. I am very grateful for being loved, but I tried to face the next one a bit coldly, discarding the pressure.' He also mentioned, 'In my previous work, I played a role that helped the female character grow, and it was a story of her growth. This work is a genuine love story that shows a full-fledged romance. I tried to focus a bit more on that situation than in the previous work.' He added, 'I did a lot of rehearsals to grasp the details of actions that could be relatable, like 'I would have acted that way in that situation.' The drama 'Light of Love' will premiere in South Korea on the 6th at 8:50 PM, with episodes 1 and 2 airing consecutively.
