(G)I-DLE, aespa, IVE, tripleS, QWER, and other highly anticipated girl groups that dominated the MelOn chart this year will all appear at the 'MMA'. Kakao Entertainment's music platform MelOn announced on the 4th the second lineup for 'The 16th MelOn Music Awards (MMA2024)', which will be held on November 30 at Incheon Inspire Arena. First, (G)I-DLE won the honor of being the protagonist of this year's first MelOn Hall of Fame 'Millions Album' with their 2nd full album '2', which announced the return of the queen in January. The title track 'Super Lady' was popular, and the included song 'Fate' caused a re-boom, recording first place on MelOn's 'TOP100' chart, showcasing impactful activities. Expectations are high for how they will captivate fans with their stage at 'MMA2024', recognized for their overwhelming concept and intense performances. aespa, who had three albums enter the MelOn Hall of Fame this year, demonstrated their presence as a 'breakout girl group'. Their 1st full album 'Armageddon', which includes hit songs 'Supernova' and 'Armageddon', achieved 1 million streams in just 5 hours and surpassed 3 million streams within 24 hours of release. Additionally, aespa's 'aespa Special Digital Single 'SYNK: PARALLEL LINE' and 5th mini album 'Whiplash' also ranked high on the MelOn chart. Their unique 'Swaemak' charm will be unmissable on the 'MMA2024' stage. IVE achieved a triple crown at 'MMA2023', winning 'Album of the Year', 'TOP10', and 'Millions TOP10', leading the peak of girl groups. Their 2nd mini album 'IVE SWITCH', released in April, also became a MelOn Hall of Fame 'Millions Album'. Both title tracks 'HEYA' and 'Accendio' performed well on MelOn, proving their popularity as a highly anticipated girl group. Attention is focused on their stage, showing limitless growth with each release. The 'super-large girl group' tripleS and 'growth-type girl group' QWER, which achieved good results on the MelOn chart this year, were also invited to the 'MMA'. tripleS released their full album 'ASSEMBLE24' in May, featuring all 24 members for the first time. The title 'Girls Never Die', decided by votes from fans worldwide, charted on MelOn's 'TOP100', making it a more meaningful song. QWER, a rare girl band in the K-POP scene, gained love with their debut song 'Discord' and subsequent hits like 'T.B.H' and 'My Name Is Malguem'. These songs ranked high on the MelOn 'TOP100' chart and received a warm response. It is not an exaggeration to say they sparked the K-band boom alongside DAY6. QWER's stage, signaling the revival of girl bands, can be seen at 'MMA2024'. The 'MMA', which widely informs the achievements of artists over the year through objective data from MelOn, user votes, and expert evaluations, has become Korea's largest music awards ceremony and festival.
