Hwasa of MAMAMOO has returned with the proactive 'NA'. On the 19th at 4 PM, she held a press conference at the Conrad Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul, to celebrate the release of her 2nd mini-album 'O'. This album, filled with her essence, holds a special affection for her after a year-long hiatus. On this day, Hwasa shared her thoughts on her comeback, saying, 'I can't believe a year has passed; I spent a fulfilling time focusing on myself. I learned a lot, and I believe this album came out of that.' 'O' is an album where you can meet Hwasa's positive attitude, featuring seven tracks including the title song 'NA', 'Road', 'HWASA', 'EGO', 'OK NEXT', 'just want to have some fun', and 'O'. 'NA' incorporates her unique proactive story centered around 'Me, Myself, & NA (I)'. Hit-makers like Yoo Gon-hyun, PSY, and Ahn Shin-ae participated in the production. Through 'NA', she plans to show a confident image stepping boldly without being caught up in others' opinions. She described 'NA' as 'not an intense song or one that says, 'I am the best.' It's a song that shows the person I want to be, a fun and enjoyable song that expresses wanting to be crazy without worrying about others' reactions.' Since 'NA' is seen as a reflection of Hwasa herself, her affection for the song deepened during the production process. Despite some unnatural parts, she recorded it multiple times, and through that process, it became her song. She stated, 'I didn't try to do it the way I've done before. I didn't seek an easy way; I worked persistently.' She described it as a song completed with plenty of love and affection. Working with PSY, a senior in the music industry and the head of her agency, was also meaningful. She mentioned, 'He always showed incredible love and positivity. Although there were differences in opinions, we changed my feelings while recording. It was a time to make it my song.' After searching for her unique atmosphere, she added PSY's sensibility. Even PSY, who doesn't give compliments easily, acknowledged the song as 'well done,' raising expectations. Because of the special affection she had for it, there were times it was tough, but she found joy in it. She revealed that while filming the music video for 'NA' in Paris, she stretched a ligament by walking on cobblestones in high heels. However, she conveyed that despite the struggles, it was a happy process. For the choreography, she collaborated with La Chica, a dance crew she has worked with alongside many K-POP artists like BoA, TWICE, Kim Chung-ha, and aespa, and JAM REPUBLIC, who were runners-up on Mnet's 'STREET WOMAN FIGHTER2'. This was a collaboration that Hwasa directly requested from PSY. She said, 'From the beginning, I wanted to work with La Chica and JAM REPUBLIC. I really like them, but I had never worked with them before, so I wanted to try. The choreography felt so complete that it seemed like the song was finished.' Through 'O', Hwasa aims to show a flexible world she wants to depict. Having built her unique identity through energetic activities, listeners are increasingly interested in the music she presents in these seven tracks. 'O', which incorporates her stories deepened over the past year, was released on the 19th at 6 PM.
