Amid the emergence of dating rumors about TWICE’s Tzuyu, her mother personally explained and stopped the spread of the rumor. Yesterday (the 27th), according to a Taiwanese media outlet, Hwang Yeon-rin, Tzuyu’s mother, revealed her view about the rumors concerning her daughter and a man through her own social media. Hwang Yeon-rin began by saying, “Recently, there has been talk on online communities about Tzuyu’s boyfriend,” and, “I have also known that person for a long time, so I would like to say a little about him.” She also explained that the man who was named as the other party in the dating rumor is a friend who has built a long friendship with Tzuyu over many years. She further said that he is “a kind and sincere person who has supported and encouraged Tzuyu a great deal until now.” She then expressed concern about views that link the two’s relationship to a romantic one. She said, “It is natural for friends to eat together, go out together, talk, and care for one another,” and emphasized, “One must not give excessive meaning to a few photos or some information, or make baseless speculation.” She also expressed regret about the situation in which Tzuyu and the people around her are being hurt by rumors whose facts have not been confirmed. Hwang Yeon-rin said, “Please do not criticize or attack someone based on unconfirmed stories,” and called for restraint from irresponsible speculation. She added, “Please pay more attention to Tzuyu’s music and works. Please also respect Tzuyu’s privacy and the privacy of her friends around her.” Tzuyu debuted as a member of TWICE in 2015 and has been actively promoting in and outside South Korea.
