As part of Sanrio’s “World Kuromification Project,” which aims for a world where each and every person can be themselves together with Kuromi, the limited-time Kuromi event “KUROMI'S MYSTERIOUS DEPARTMENT STORE” is being held at MEDIA DEPARTMENT TOKYO in Shibuya from Monday, October 19, 2026 to Sunday, November 1, 2026. This event is a limited-time immersive event set in a department store full of Kuromi’s dreams and full of “surprises,” appearing in Shibuya during the Halloween season. While touring the dark-fantasy-like venue, visitors can enjoy Kuromi’s worldview and touch Kuromi’s message, offering an experience that becomes a trigger for getting closer to the “self you want to be.” On Sunday, October 18, before the general public opening, K of &TEAM visited the venue a little early and experienced the event while touring the interior. In addition to enjoying secret passages, photo spots inspired by a cosmetics shop and a boutique, and the surprises hidden throughout the venue, a surprise face-to-face meeting with Kuromi also came true, and K was delighted. Furthermore, after the experience, he was asked about unexpected common points with Kuromi and about Kuromi’s charm. At the information counter, which serves as the entrance to the department store and is greeted by Kuromi, K commented, “I’m looking forward to seeing what happens, and I’m excited!” In the secret passage where Kuromi’s silhouette appears, he was already building up his expectations, saying, “I’m drawn all at once into Kuromi’s worldview.” As he proceeded through the venue, the second-floor photo spots inspired by a cosmetics shop and a boutique spread out. In the cosmetics shop where items such as the very long false eyelashes “SUPER LONG LONG LASHES” and the hood dye “HOOD COLOR MAGIC” were lined up, he was very interested, saying, “It’s cute! Various items are packed with Kuromi-chan’s character.” Furthermore, as he toured the venue and looked into a mirror, a mechanism in which Kuromi suddenly appeared caused him to exclaim, “Oh!” in surprise. While saying, “I get surprised when I’m caught off guard,” he enjoyed the “surprises” hidden in the venue. After K had fully enjoyed Kuromi’s worldview in the venue, Kuromi appeared as a “surprise.” When he saw Kuromi, K exclaimed, “Kuromi-chan! Cute!” and seemed surprised by the unexpected appearance. Smiling while facing Kuromi, he said, “I’m happy to have met Kuromi-chan!” and was delighted by the long-awaited meeting. Furthermore, when asked about the common points he felt with Kuromi through the experience, he confessed an unexpected side, saying, “Actually, I also like ‘surprises,’ so I might be a good match with Kuromi-chan.” He also revealed an everyday anecdote, saying, “I also send ‘surprise presents’ to members on their birthdays.” He also smiled as he spoke of another common point: “Our initials are the same, K, as well.” As for his favorite spots that left a strong impression, he named “KUROMI'S SECRET PASSAGE” and “SURPRISE CALL,” commenting, “The silhouette exhibit drew me all at once into Kuromi-chan’s worldview, and the phone where you can talk with Kuromi-chan had an especially cute way of speaking that left an impression.” Also, among the original-design goods that will be sold in advance at this event, K chose the mascot as his favorite. “It’s super cute! I like that this outfit is very much like Kuromi-chan and fits this event’s worldview very well,” he revealed as the point he liked. In line with the theme of this event, “touch Kuromi’s message and get closer to the ‘self you want to be,’” K was asked about Kuromi’s charm and what he values in order to remain himself. K commented, mixing in common points with himself, “I think Kuromi-chan’s charm is that she is very honest about the things she likes and wants to do. As an artist, the feeling of ‘liking’ is my biggest source of energy too. Even amid having many things I need to do, I value making time for the things I like and the time I like.” Finally, he sent a message to those who will visit the event in the future: “It’s a department store full of Kuromi-chan’s world! It’s a space that can give you a push from behind to challenge the things you want to try, so please come and have fun!” Event overview: “KUROMI'S MYSTERIOUS DEPARTMENT STORE” Period: Monday, October 19, 2026 to Sunday, November 1, 2026 Hours: 11:00 to 20:00 (last admission 19:30) Venue: MEDIA DEPARTMENT TOKYO (19-3 Udagawacho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) Admission: Free Other details here Event overview: “KUROMI'S MYSTERIOUS DEPARTMENT STORE” Period: Monday, October 19, 2026 to Sunday, November 1, 2026 Hours: 11:00 to 20:00 (last admission 19:30) Venue: MEDIA DEPARTMENT TOKYO (19-3 Udagawacho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) Admission: Free Other details here
