Lee Seung Gi and Lee Hongki will take the stage together in the upcoming King of Kings special episode of KBS-2TV’s 'Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend,' airing on July 28 at 6:05 p.m. KST. The 2025 King of Kings special features only previous winners of the show. Ten top-tier teams will compete for the prestigious title of “King of Kings,” a recognition given to the best among past champions. Lee Seung Gi, making his debut appearance in the special, expressed his determination ahead of the performance. He said he plans to give it his all and walk off stage without regrets. “Regardless of the result, I just want to enjoy the moment. That’s my goal,” he shared. In this highly anticipated performance, Lee Seung Gi will team up with Lee Hongki to sing “Highway in the Gale.” Their collaboration is said to have lit up not only the stage but also the backstage waiting area, thrilling fellow participants and staff alike with their powerful energy and stage presence. The duo’s close friendship was also on full display. Lee Seung Gi jokingly remarked that Lee Hongki was pretending to be busy like a global star due to overlapping schedules. His comment drew laughter on set. Host Kim Jun Hyun added, “Today’s schedule was entirely arranged to match Lee Hongki’s availability,” further highlighting their chemistry. The lighthearted banter and strong bond between Lee Seung Gi and Lee Hongki are expected to be key highlights of the show. The lineup for this year’s King of Kings special also features performances by Choi Jung Won with Son Seung Yeon, Sohyang, Yang Dong Geun with Zai.Ro, ALi, HYB, Jung Joon Il, Son Tae Jin with Jeon Yu Jin, Shin Seung Tae with Choi Soo Ho, LA POEM, and ZO ZAZZ. A program representative commented that this year’s competition features the strongest lineup yet. Viewers can expect a dazzling, high-level showdown that will crown a new champion of champions. 'Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend' has consistently ranked number one in its time slot for nearly 14 years. The King of Kings special will be aired in two parts, with Part 1 on June 28 and Part 2 on August 5 at 6:05 p.m. KST, both on Saturday evenings.
