In July 2024, the musical "Crash Landing on You" will be performed at the New National Theatre Middle Theater. Studio Dragon, a leading studio in Korea, produced "Crash Landing on You," a love story that crosses the border between a South Korean chaebol heiress, Yoon Se-ri, who crash-landed in North Korea after a paragliding accident, and a North Korean military officer, Ri Jeong-hyeok. After airing in South Korea in December 2019, the musical gained significant popularity worldwide and continues to be popular even after four years. The musical was adapted in Korea in September 2022 and premiered in Japan in February 2024 due to high demand for performances in Japan. The talented cast's singing and acting received attention, leading to a speedy decision for a reprise. The original cast from the Japanese premiere will reunite for this reprise. The lead role of Ri Jeong-hyeok will be played by Yun Sa-na, the lead vocalist of ASTRO, a male idol group that debuted in Korea in 2016. Kim Ryo-won, who played the same role in the Korean production of "Crash Landing on You," will play Yoon Se-ri. Jin Jin from ASTRO will play Gu Seung-jun, and Chi So-young, the main vocalist of the female idol group Weki Meki, will play Seo Dan. The reprise will be performed with a single cast. Terry Kim (General Producer) Comment: After successfully completing the first world tour in Tokyo, we heard from those who were unable to attend that they are waiting for a reprise. While preparing for the reprise, thanks to the efforts of Fuji TV, we will be performing at a wonderful theater. The July performance will include parts that were not shown in the previous performance and modifications. We will strive to present a more polished work. Whether you are seeing the musical "Crash Landing on You" for the first time in the July performance or if you saw the February performance and want to see it again, we will do our best to make it an unforgettable performance. One of the themes of this work is "just one more step." We hope that everyone can get a little closer to each other in life by taking "just one more step." Unable to move after colliding with a tree, she is discovered by North Korean military officer Ri Jeong-hyeok. When Se-ri realizes she has come to North Korea, she tries to escape. However, she ends up going in the opposite direction of South Korea and wanders into a North Korean military village. Just as she is about to be discovered, Jeong-hyeok saves her and hides her in his home. When it becomes known that Se-ri is at Jeong-hyeok's house, he pretends that she is his fiancée who was working as a spy in South Korea. He plans to send Se-ri back to South Korea as soon as possible, but his plans fail one after another. As time passes, the two develop romantic feelings for each other despite being citizens of enemy states. However, Jeong-hyeok has a real fiancée, Seo Dan, the daughter of a department store president. At the same time as Se-ri's crash landing in North Korea, young South Korean businessman Gu Seung-jun also arrives in North Korea. Seung-jun, who was Se-ri's former blind date partner, is being pursued in South Korea for fraud against Se-ri's brother Se-hyeon. He evades capture by posing as a British diplomat until the statute of limitations expires, and hides in North Korea through a broker. Se-ri's brothers learn that she is alive in North Korea, but they, who are trying to outmaneuver Se-ri's talented sister, who is being groomed as the successor by their father, do not want Se-ri to return to South Korea.
