In the relationship between fans and idols, Girls' Generation's Su-yeon and Kim Jae-young save each other. On December 16 at 2 PM, a production presentation for the new genie TV drama "Idol Eye" (written by Kim Da-rin, directed by Lee Kwang-yong) was held at D-Cube City The Saint in Sindorim, Seoul. Director Lee Kwang-yong, Su-yeon, and Kim Jae-young attended the event. The work is a mystery courtroom romance that unfolds as star lawyer Men Sena (Su-yeon), full of fan spirit, takes on the case of her beloved idol, To Like (Kim Jae-young), who has become a murder suspect. Director Lee Kwang-yong introduced the work by saying, "Borrowing the expression of the screenwriter, the drama started with the question, 'Is it possible to wholeheartedly support and love someone whose face and identity you do not know?' It makes you think about the meaning idols hold in the lives of fans, and it is a drama that approaches not only idols but also the human heart, which I believe you will enjoy in various aspects." Su-yeon plays the role of star lawyer Men Sena, who must prove the innocence of her favorite idol, To Like. Coincidentally, her boyfriend Jung Kyung-ho is also appearing as a lawyer in tvN's "Pro Bono," drawing more attention. Su-yeon stated, "The genres are different, and the dramas themselves are different, so I didn't particularly think about differentiation. I have always wanted to play a lawyer. The script was very interesting, but I was most attracted to the lawyer role," and added, "I don't think this drama will mainly focus on the defense scenes. Rather, it is a drama that focuses more on the relationships and the incidents that arise from interactions with Like, so I hope you will watch it with that in mind. It was my first time memorizing legal terms, so that was a bit difficult, but I worked hard and created it together with the director." It is also interesting that Su-yeon, who has been a long-time fan of Girls' Generation, is now in the position of a fan. When choosing the project, she thought the most about the fans, saying, "Physically, I can't touch them, and I haven't formed a deep relationship, but I think the only relationship that can be 100% trusted is the relationship between fans and stars. The fans may understand me better than the people around me who say they know me well," and explained, "While playing Sena, I also thought, 'On what basis do I trust Like this much?' but fans always watch over and observe with love. I believe the relationship between fans and stars is a completely trustworthy one." Kim Jae-young undergoes an unconventional image change as To Like, the visual center and vocalist of Gold Boys, who has become a murder suspect. When MC Park Kyung-rim expressed expectations that Kim Jae-young's role would become a strong rival to Saja Boys, Su-yeon jokingly said, "You have to close the Hongmun." Kim Jae-young prepared for this role by referencing DAY6, FTISLAND, and CNBLUE. He stated, "While playing the role of To Like, I was doing jacket shoots, recording, and learning instruments, and I thought it was a fascinating profession. When filming the scene of performing at a festival, it was great to receive the energy from the audience. If I were to be reborn, I would like to try being an idol. I feel like it's too late now," and mentioned that Su-yeon gave him a lot of advice. Regarding the newly discovered charm of Kim Jae-young, Su-yeon praised him, saying, "Kim Jae-young is a good person. He doesn't like pretense in acting or personality. That's why he always tries to act with genuine emotions, and I think I received a lot of good influence from him," and added, "At first, when I heard that Kim Jae-young would play the role of Like, I couldn't quite imagine him standing on stage. The pure yet honest, somewhat weak, free, and wanting to be understood feelings that Kim Jae-young possesses were necessary elements to express To Like. I can't imagine To Like without Kim Jae-young." Kim Jae-young responded, "Su-yeon has a way of making people relax. She adjusts so that it comes out naturally. Her ability is excellent. She helped me bring out my charm. She was very fun, serious about work, and considerate of the other actors." In terms of character, Kim Jae-young noted that he is reminiscent of Byung Woo-seok's Ryu Seong-jae from "Run with Seong-jae," with whom he has a close friendship. Kim Jae-young revealed that he and Byung Woo-seok support each other, saying, "Like's doubts deepen as the story progresses. I think there are indeed differences in the emotional changes in that aspect and in the point of meeting Sena, who is on his side and opening his heart." Park Kyung-rim also mentioned the music performance results of the OST "Evening Shower" from "Run with Seong-jae," in which Byung Woo-seok participated. Kim Jae-young, who also participated in the singing, said, "I always have expectations. I saw Woo-seok's video of 'Evening Shower' today. I thought, 'Could it be me?'" eliciting laughter. Su-yeon conveyed the viewing points of this work, saying, "I liked the point of mutual salvation in the romance. This industry has big incidents, and the subject of idols is also sparkling. While filming, I felt that the tone and manner designed by the director were rooted in reality. As relationships deepen, there were points that made me think about life, human relationships, and trust in love. The process of healing each other's wounds was skillfully expressed by the director, a master of romance dramas. It started chaotically, but by the end, you should feel like you've watched a good romance drama." Finally, Kim Jae-young humorously stated, "I will be 40 next year. I think it's impossible to play an idol role anymore. I would like to ask for a lot of promotions," causing laughter on set. The genie TV original drama "Idol Eye" will premiere in South Korea on December 22 at 10 PM.
