Actor Kang Hoon frankly revealed everything from his fan feelings for Girls' Generation’s Taeyeon, who is his “ultimate bias,” to his gratitude toward the fans who support him. Kang Hoon recently held an interview with My Daily and tvN’s “My Bias Is My Boss -My Bias, My Boss-” at a cafe in Palpan-dong, Jongno District, Seoul, to commemorate the end of the broadcast. “My Bias Is My Boss” is a work that depicts the story of Nam Dal-reum (Kim Hye-jun), who joins the same company in order to meet Lee Chan (Cha Woo-min), her ultimate bias whom she has supported for many years. Kang Hoon played Kang Ha-gi, the representative of the fashion startup “Apero.” Nam Dal-reum’s passionate fan feelings in the drama strangely resemble Kang Hoon, who has actually been known for a long time as a fan of Taeyeon. Kang Hoon also found such common points while reading the script. He looked back on his past, saying, “When I read the script up to episode 12, I thought there were parts that overlapped between Dal-reum and me.” For Kang Hoon, Taeyeon is a special existence who made him dream of becoming an actor. He explained, “I also decided to become an actor because I wanted to meet Taeyeon. I thought Dal-reum was similar in that she got a job at the same company in order to meet her ultimate bias.” In fact, he met Taeyeon through the variety show “Amazing Saturday.” After making the moment he had imagined into reality, a new goal was born instead. Kang Hoon revealed, “After meeting Taeyeon, I came to think that I have to continue my acting life more diligently. I also thought that from now on, I need to have another dream as an actor. Since I achieved one dream while doing this job as an actor, I thought I have to act more earnestly in order to protect this place.” He added, “From now on, I think I have to work hard so that I can become someone else’s ‘ultimate bias’ too.” His fan feelings for Taeyeon have not changed even now. He said, “It was the first time I had ever liked someone that much. I am still always cheering for her,” and added, “I want to support her from afar while watching over her so that I do not become a burden.” Through this work, he said he came to understand fans’ feelings even more deeply. Kang Hoon expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am truly grateful to the fans. I think being able to go anywhere and cheer for someone is something that cannot be done without truly great love.” After the drama was released, he personally checked reactions from overseas fans as well, beyond Korea. Since this was his first lead role, he was curious about how viewers were receiving his acting and character. Kang Hoon revealed, “This time, because it was my first time playing the lead, I looked for reactions even more. I even pressed ‘show translation’ and looked at overseas reactions.” Above all, the words Kang Hoon most wanted to hear after finishing the work were not “Kang Hoon was good,” but rather the evaluation “Kang Ha-gi was good.” He said, “As an actor, I feel happiest when I am praised for the role in the work. I wanted to hear, ‘Kang Ha-gi was really good’ and ‘Ha-gi’s acting was good.’ I was grateful that many people said that.” Having long been a single fan, Kang Hoon has become an actor who is looked at as an “ultimate bias” by his own fans. He said, “Suddenly becoming a star may be a good thing, but my current pace suits my personality well,” and conveyed his wish, saying, “I want to become an actor who moves forward slowly while receiving more and more love.”
