UP10TION's Lee Dongyul (Xiao) is showing growth as a solo artist. He held a showcase to commemorate the release of his 1st solo album "Howling" at Ilji Art Hall in Gangnam, Seoul on the 8th. He debuted as a member of UP10TION in 2015 and started his first solo activities after 9 years. "Howling" focuses on the howling of wolves and is an album with the ambition to communicate widely with people through music, including the title track "Drip Drop" and 4 other songs. He participated in composing all the songs, showcasing his skills as a singer-songwriter. He expressed his nervousness about his solo debut, saying, "Xiao of UP10TION was the youngest brother who was loved by his older brothers, a child without discretion, but when he works as Lee Dongyul, he focuses on responsibility and completeness." He compared his activities with UP10TION members to now, saying, "At that time, I was relieved and at ease because my older brothers were there, but now I have to endure everything alone. There is pressure and a sense of responsibility." In this album, he not only showcased bold costumes but also moved away from his boyish image with elements such as well-trained abs and tattoos, revealing a strong male charm. Lee Dongyul confessed, "I thought I would look beautiful if I exposed myself. I chose slightly revealing outfits. I wanted to try this feeling since UP10TION." The title track "Drip Drop" is a dance pop genre song with a dark mood that highlights his fantastical and sexy voice and charm, expressing emotions that deepen more and more as he looks at his loved one in the lyrics. He shared an episode of struggling to choose between the title track "Drip Drop" and "Here With Me," saying, "During 'BOYS PLANET,' I liked the image of 'Man In Love' (by INFINITE), so I thought I had to debut with a bright song." He said, "No matter how much I thought about it, it seemed like fans would like 'Drip Drop' more, and I thought 'Here With Me' might be a bit weak." He also mentioned that his goal is to show stages and said, "I think I made fans wait for a long time. I got a herniated disc in the middle. The period became a little longer, but I want to heal quickly and keep my promise with the fans."
