The Korean release of the movie "Specials," starring NCT's Yuta, has been decided. Additionally, a list of songs that will energize the "Specials" has been released, featuring participation from Korean artists. The story unfolds with a group of solitary professional assassins, each with different ages and personalities, who team up to aim for participation in a dance competition where the top boss of the underworld, Honjo-kai, is sure to appear, plotting an assassination. This work features a list of six luxurious songs, including classic hits from the Showa and Heisei eras and new songs written specifically for this work. Among them is Matsumoto Iyo's debut single "Sentimental Journey," a representative idol song of the 80s, and the viral hit "Friday Chinatown," which has surpassed 170 million views. Myun, a Korean singer-songwriter, covers the big hit number from the rock band TOM☆CATS, "Furare Kibun de Rock'n Roll," with her transparent vocals. Also included is TRF's classic dance tune "EZ DO DANCE," still heard in various scenes today. Additionally, the new song "Pinky Lady" by the multinational girl group UNIS, featuring members Nana and Kotoko from Japan, has gained attention with over 10 million views on YouTube. Another new song, "Higher," is by the girl group RESCENE, which consists of five members, including Minami from Japan and four members from Korea. Both "Pinky Lady" and "Higher" are composed and produced by Lee Chang-min, the lead vocalist of 2AM, who is also active as a sound producer. The unique songs transcend generations and borders, matching the diverse personalities of the "Specials" members. The appearance of the main cast, including Sakuma Daisuke and the "Specials" members, performing a dance to one of the insert songs, "Friday Chinatown," has also been revealed. The five members, dressed in matching white suits, showcased a perfectly synchronized dance to the song's mood-filled chorus. The choreography, handled by akane, who is known for producing the dance team Avangarde, features a unique aura of assassins and a sense of the underworld, resulting in a comical and memorable performance. Dance videos featuring the performers dancing to the songs will be posted on the official TikTok. The film, which is familiar with K-POP and Korean culture, stars Nakamoto Yuta as Kiryu, a cool assassin who dislikes crowds, along with artists like Myun, UNIS, and RESCENE participating in the music. The film will be released in Japan on March 6, followed by its Korean theatrical release on March 13. It will also be screened at the 46th Porto International Film Festival, one of the world's three major fantastic film festivals, from February 27 to March 8, and has been selected as the closing film for the Chicago APUC Asian Pop-Up Film Festival, which introduces the latest and classic Asian films in Chicago. The festival will take place from March 19 to April 12, and "Specials" will be the closing film for its 20th edition. A comment from APUC Executive Director Sophia Wong-Bocchio states that director Uchida Eiji, known for "Midnight Swan" and Netflix's "The Naked Director," delivers another astonishing masterpiece with "Specials." The story of assassins infiltrating as a dance team promises to be a hilarious and outrageous tale. The thrilling action and enthusiastic pop dance seamlessly intertwine within the same scenes, creating an anthem that awakens the dancer's spirit hidden within everyone, emphasizing that if one does not give up, dreams can come true.
