Therefore, when I had the opportunity to speak at the UNESCO Youth Forum last year, I wanted to introduce the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, a World Natural Heritage site. Being appointed as Jeju's promotional ambassador is deeply moving, and I am grateful.' He continued, 'I have been active with the desire to give better energy and hope to the people of Jeju,' adding, 'I will work even harder to promote Jeju and SEVENTEEN to the world, so please watch over me.' Governor Oh Young-hoon of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province expressed, 'I am happy that a global artist from Jeju is active as a promotional ambassador for his hometown,' and stated expectations for him to serve as a cultural diplomat conveying Jeju's rich nature, culture, and values as an island of world peace. After being appointed as a promotional ambassador, Sungkwang participated in Jeju's hometown tax initiative and supported the protection of the Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin. He debuted as part of SEVENTEEN in 2015 and has promoted Jeju to global K-POP fans through various variety shows, photo shoots, and commercials held in Jeju. Last November, SEVENTEEN's special performance video of 'God of Music,' filmed in Jeju, was released at the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum, gaining attention. During his speech at that time, he mentioned that Jeju is the first region in the world to be designated by UNESCO in three areas of natural environment simultaneously.
