SEVENTEEN received a presidential award. On the 23rd, SEVENTEEN received the presidential award at the '2025 Republic of Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards' held at the National Theater in Jung-gu, Seoul. While on a world tour in North America, members Jeonghan and Wonwoo represented the group and accepted the trophy on stage. The two, currently fulfilling military duties, attended the award ceremony after discussions with relevant departments such as the Military Manpower Administration. Jeonghan and Wonwoo stated, 'We are extremely grateful and honored to receive the presidential award on our 10th debut anniversary,' and expressed gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the K-POP industry and culture. They pledged to continue to promote K-POP and contribute to the development of popular culture. The 'Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards' is the highest government award given to popular cultural artists and organizations that have contributed to the global dissemination and development of K-content. SEVENTEEN was recognized for their contributions to strengthening K-POP's position in the global music market and received the Prime Minister's award at the same ceremony in 2020. After five years, they were selected as recipients of the presidential award. Since their debut in 2015, SEVENTEEN has broken numerous records, including the highest sales in K-POP single album history (10th mini-album 'FML') and the highest first-week sales (11th mini-album 'SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN'), leaving a strong impression on the history of Korean popular music. They were also the first K-POP artists to perform on the main stage at the UK 'Glastonbury Festival' and headlined at 'Lollapalooza Berlin' in Germany and 'Tecate Pa'l Norte' in Mexico, enhancing the reputation of Korean popular music on international stages. They are also proactive in social contribution activities. Last year, SEVENTEEN was appointed as UNESCO's first youth goodwill ambassadors and established a Global Youth Grant Scheme with a donation of $1 million. In August of this year, they donated the proceeds from the 'JOOPITER presents: sacai x SEVENTEEN' charity auction, held to commemorate World Youth Day, to UNESCO, garnering attention. This year, marking their 10th anniversary as a group, they have contributed to strengthening K-POP's influence through diverse activities. Members were also included in the 'A100' list of the most influential Asians selected by the American non-profit organization Gold House, and Woozi and Vernon were chosen as members of the Recording Academy. Their 5th full album 'HAPPY BURSTDAY,' released in May, debuted at No. 2 on Billboard's main album chart, the Billboard 200, and was loved worldwide. The 'SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [NEW_] IN U.S.' continues to be successful, with the Tacoma concert on the 11th, Los Angeles concerts on the 16th-17th, and Austin concerts on the 21st-22nd closing to explosive reactions from local fans. SEVENTEEN will continue their tour in Sunrise on the 26th-27th and Washington D.C. on the 29th-30th. SEVENTEEN will release a documentary commemorating their 10th anniversary on Disney+ starting November 7! Stay tuned for the trailer. SEVENTEEN will also sequentially sell collaboration package products with the Korean food brand 'bibigo' at pop-up stores starting October 30!
