VIVIZ’s Umji revealed her current feelings by publishing a handwritten letter on her birthday while going through a long period of inactivity. Umji recently posted a long handwritten letter on her SNS, writing, “This is a birthday that I especially remember because of the beautiful words of blessing that made every year’s birthday dozens of times more fulfilling and special. It may be difficult to convey all of those words directly this year. Even so, I felt so strongly the feelings of the fans who warmly congratulated me and wanted to see me, that I wanted to convey my own feelings like this as well.” She continued, “Thank you very, very much for celebrating me. I have not forgotten at all the feelings of those who still, unchanged, cherish me so passionately and dearly. Even if my response now is a little insufficient, I would like you to wait just a little longer so that I can repay you doubled someday.” She then expressed her feelings toward fans, saying, “I did not think the period of inactivity would become this long, so I thought that if each of us spent time recharging, we would be able to meet again soon. And yet, it seems I have made you wait longer than I expected, and I feel very sorry.” Umji revealed, “To briefly share how I have been doing, I am spending a very dynamic time, sometimes feeling joy, sometimes pain, making resolutions, and saying ‘I’m tired’ and ‘I worked hard,’ during a long period of free time I have never had before.” She continued, “I thought that if I could let my body rest easily, each day would settle down like calm waves, but that was not the case. Rather, as if in inverse proportion, my heart and thoughts seemed to become even busier. In order to switch those thoughts in a good direction, I spent time sometimes going far away and then coming back.” She also said, “The longing that both I and the members are feeling is connected not to draining the remaining strength and causing us to run out of energy, but to the desire to welcome a better time, more coolly and more beautifully. That is why, when we start the engine again, I expect that we will be able to show you a slightly different, new side of ourselves from before.” She concluded her letter by saying, “It may take time, but I think that one day there will surely be days overflowing with so much content that this current quietness will fade. So let’s endure just a little longer! I will also look forward to that day and spend the time ahead working even harder.” VIVIZ announced that, as of March 4 this year, it had terminated its exclusive contract with its agency Big Planet Made Entertainment, citing violations of obligations to pay settlement money under the exclusive contract, violations of management support obligations, and damage to the relationship of trust caused by these issues. The group is currently inactive due to the legal dispute.
