Taemin of SHINee has released a new solo album. According to his agency, Galaxy Corporation, on the 31st, Taemin released the new mini album “PHASE 1 : Soft Violence” at 6 p.m. the same day through music streaming sites in Korea and overseas. The title of the new work combines the opposing concepts of “Soft” and “Violence.” It expresses the tension and contradictions that exist within familiar beauty, and the subtle cracks that arise within them, presenting a new aesthetic unique to Taemin. The message running through the entire album, “Beauty is sometimes cruel,” makes one look at the backside of completed beauty within the gaze and expectations of others. In this album, Taemin maintains his own delicate yet flexible sensibility while expanding the energy inherent in it in a more powerful and sharper direction. Moving back and forth between “Sweet,” “Bitter,” “Silent,” and “Brutal,” he expressed himself more honestly and boldly. Taemin actively participated in the music and the overall concept, weaving in his own experiences, thoughts, and unique story. The included tracks total 11 songs, including the double title tracks “FLOAT” and “Gooey.” In addition to five new songs, including the previously released intro “This Is The End,” “Easy Loving You,” and “SKIN,” the album also includes six songs such as “Let Me Be The One,” “Sober,” and “PARASITE,” which were performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the United States this April. His agency said, “This new album is a work that shows the further evolution of Taemin, an artist who has continued to break familiar frameworks and prove his own essence,” and added, “You will be able to fully feel the musical story that moves between opposing sensations and his even deeper artistic talent.” Today, the music video for the double title track “FLOAT” was also released, drawing attention for Taemin’s beautiful singing voice and fantastical worldview.
