LIGHTSUM has released its Japanese major debut mini album, Re:idol, featuring five songs and a new “kawaii” idol concept. The lead song’s music video premieres today, and the group will begin Japanese activities with live streams, a festival stage, and release events.

LIGHTSUM held an interview in Seoul on the afternoon of the 22nd to commemorate the release of its Japan debut album. Marking its fifth debut anniversary this year, the group released its Japanese major debut mini album, Re:idol, today and made a full-group comeback after two years.

Six-member girl group LIGHTSUM is drawing attention with a new challenge as they transform into a “Japanese-style idol.” Their lead song “Doshite” from the major debut mini album Re:idol began streaming today. The song portrays sweet, bittersweet one-sided love, and the MV teaser highlights their new visuals. They will also hold their first YouTube live stream, premiere the full MV, and continue activities in Japan with documentary, festival, and release-event appearances.

Kstyle and IDOLCHAMP have launched the September vote for Kstyle POWER PUSH. Fans can choose the monthly power-push artist from August 25 to September 3, 2026, using Ruby CHAMSIM in the IDOLCHAMP app. Featured comeback artists include &TEAM, FLARE U, NCT TEN, and more.

LIGHTSUM, a six-member girl group gaining attention through ABEMA’s original documentary Re:Idol, will release its Japanese major debut mini album Re:idol on September 23, 2026. The album includes five tracks, special Kawaii versions, DVD bonus footage, and store-specific preorder gifts.

On the 27th, at Incheon SSG Landers Field, LIGHTSUM's Sanah threw the first pitch for the SSG Landers vs. Samsung Lions game. The group also formed their first unit with members Chowon and Ju-hyun, fulfilling a dream from their trainee days, and released a live clip for their new song 'Beautiful Pain.'

On the afternoon of the 4th, the '2026 F/W Seoul Fashion Week' was held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul, featuring LIGHTSUM members Ju-hyun and Cho-won on the runway. Additionally, LIGHTSUM formed their first unit, fulfilling a dream from their trainee days. The event also highlighted the Grammy-winning cover by a Korean artist, gaining renewed attention.

On the afternoon of the 4th, Seoul Fashion Week kicked off at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, featuring the PHENOMENON SEEPER collection. Notable attendees included Han Seungwoo, DREAMCATCHER's Sua, and members from LIGHTSUM, Queenz Eye, and more. Additionally, Han Sona reportedly opposed her brother's idol debut, referencing their past matching outfits. The event also celebrated DREAMCATCHER's first unit, UAU, with a showcase for their mini-album 'Playlist #You Are You.'

At the 68th Grammy Awards, the song "Golden" from the Netflix film "KPOP Girls! Demon Hunters" won Best Song Written For Visual Media. The song, performed by the fictional girl group Huntr/x, achieved significant success, topping charts and garnering over a billion views on YouTube. It has inspired numerous K-POP artists to create cover versions, showcasing its global impact.

On January 21, MBC MUSIC's SHOW CHAMPION aired live from Goyang City, featuring ALPHA DRIVE ONE as the winner. Other performers included SAY MY NAME, Chuu, and members from Golden Child, n.SSign, LIGHTSUM, and former SM trainees. SAY MY NAME celebrated their first music show win after debuting on Music Bank.
