NU'EST’s Ren has filed for an injunction to suspend his exclusive contract with Big Planet Made, citing lack of management and support.

Ren (NU'EST) has taken legal action against his agency, Big Planet Made Entertainment. According to a report by Hankook Ilbo today (the 22nd), Ren recently filed an application for a provisional injunction to suspend the effect of his exclusive contract with the Seoul Central District Court through his legal representative, the law firm Slim. The first hearing is scheduled for October 12 of this month. Ren, who had been preparing to resume entertainment activities after completing alternative service as a social service worker and being discharged from duty on June 25, pointed to the agency’s lack of management as the main issue. He claims that the agency did not assign dedicated staff such as a manager, A&R, or public relations personnel, and that it could not even present specific plans for his future activities and production. He also said that although he met with CEO Cha Ga-won and the company’s representative after his discharge to discuss future support, no substantial support was ever realized, leading to a breakdown in the relationship of trust. On August 25, Ren sent a certified letter to the agency requesting correction of contract violations. At the time, he requested dedicated staff, activity plans, settlement-related materials, and documents confirming the feasibility of the business, but the agency reportedly replied that it was difficult to provide settlements and materials because there were no remaining staff members and no handover of duties had been carried out. In addition, CEO Cha Ga-won reportedly asked Ren through a representative to pay a penalty corresponding to the remaining contract period and terminate the contract. In response, Ren’s side explained that they decided to file for the injunction because they judged that the agency was trying to maintain only the contractual binding force even though it was in a state where normal management performance was impossible. They also emphasized that if his return were further delayed due to prolonged legal disputes following the hiatus caused by military service, he would suffer irreparable damage. Ren debuted in 2012 as a member of NU'EST. In 2022, the members each went their separate ways, and Ren expanded his activities as a solo singer and actor. He then enlisted in September 2024 and began alternative service as a social service worker. He was discharged on June 25 of this year. Prior to this, artists under Big Planet Made Entertainment such as VIVIZ, Lee Mujin, and BE'O have successively demanded termination of their exclusive contracts.
