Hwang Minhyun has suddenly risen to prominence as a new leading-man candidate for the new drama Love of Isop. A person involved with Love of Isop recently told Newsen, "It is true that we proposed him for the role of Tae Isop, but it has not been confirmed yet." Originally, Love of Isop had been confirmed to star Lee Jong-suk and Choi Yoon-ji as the male and female leads, but the production and filming schedule changed, and for scheduling reasons Lee Jong-suk’s appearance was put on hold. After that, Choi Yoon-ji also ended up withdrawing from the work. With Choi Yoon-ji also canceling her appearance following Lee Jong-suk, the production team of Love of Isop had to go back to square one and proceed with new casting. Love of Isop is a popular full-length novel by Kim Eun-hee, a work that began as a web novel, was published, and had already been decided early on to be adapted into a drama. The story is an office love romance that unfolds between Tae Isop, a herbivorous-type man who does not want to do anything, and Kang Min-kyung, a woman who must get things done by any means necessary. It depicts the love romance between the protagonist Tae Isop, a third-generation chaebol who is perfect in everything but awkward at romance, and Kang Min-kyung, a perfect heroine called TK Group’s secret weapon. Hwang Minhyun is said to be considering appearing as the male protagonist Tae Isop. Hwang Minhyun, who has worked as part of NU'EST and as a solo artist, has also emerged as an actor through dramas such as Live On, Alchemy of Souls, My Lovely Liar, and Study Group, and he is currently awaiting the release of Study Group Season 2.
