Red Velvet's Joy depicts a unique romance through otaku activities. 'Unique Romance' is a mutual otaku romance between the ordinary job-seeking student Kong Yu-il (Joy), who accidentally becomes the manager of Tak Mui (Kim Hyun-jin), a top star hiding scars from stalking. It is based on a NAVER webcomic of the same name. Joy, along with actors Kim Hyun-jin, Shin Hyun-soo, and Kang Na-eon, is expected to shine. Joy plays Kong Yu-il, an ordinary job seeker who struggles with both employment and love but lives with her inherent brightness. While leading a normal life, she learns that top star Tak Mui is her first fan from a novel she wrote, bringing a pink hue to her ordinary job-seeking life. The story depicts the dramatic daily life of Kong Yu-il as an unexpected romance begins. The beloved top star Tak Mui is played by Kim Hyun-jin, who started as a child actor and has grown into an irreplaceable actor, with his name itself being a brand. However, one day, suffering from persistent stalking, he coincidentally meets the writer Kong Yu-il, who helped him overcome a past slump. Can Tak Mui overcome this crisis with Kong Yu-il? Expectations rise for Kim Hyun-jin's image change as he plays the top star. Shin Hyun-soo transforms into Kang Hee-soo, a star chef with a warm smile. With excellent cooking skills and looks that enhance them, he is a kind and gentlemanly high-spec person. He is gentle to Kong Yu-il, who works with him in his restaurant, but hides a mysterious side. Attention is drawn to Shin Hyun-soo's new charm as he delivers both excitement and tension in the role of Kang Hee-soo. The actress with outstanding star quality, Choo Da-hong, is played by Kang Na-eon. Due to her free-spirited personality, she has many fans and anti-fans, but she has a deep affection for Tak Mui, with whom she has developed a special friendship since childhood. Kang Na-eon will portray Choo Da-hong, who forms a rivalry with Kong Yu-il, with her vibrant energy. The production team stated, 'This is a story that many have dreamed of, a romance with a star that will resonate with many and satisfy viewers just by watching.' They added, 'We plan to awaken viewers' romantic cells by adding K-romance sensibility to the story of Kong Yu-il and Tak Mui, fulfilling the aspirations of all fans, so please look forward to it.' Produced by COPUS KOREA, the project is a collaboration between director Kim Jin-yeon, known for films like 'Peeping Tom,' 'My Annoying Brother,' and 'Dangerous Greeting,' and screenwriter Jeong Hyun-mi, who won an SBS drama script contest. It is currently in production with support from the Korean Content Promotion Institute.
