STARSHIP Entertainment, the agency of IVE, has filed a damage compensation lawsuit against the operator of the controversial YouTuber 'Taldok (De-otaku Detention Center)' who defamed Wonyoung and others. On November 7, according to the legal community, Lee Hae-jin, a permanent mediator of the Seoul Court Mediation Center, issued a decision for compulsory mediation regarding the lawsuit and delivered the decision document to both parties. Compulsory mediation is a procedure in civil litigation where, if no agreement is reached, the court sets the terms of reconciliation between the parties without going through a trial to resolve the dispute. If there are no objections from either party within two weeks of the delivery of the decision document, it has the same effect as a judgment; however, if either the plaintiff or defendant rejects the mediation proposal, formal court proceedings will resume. The operator A of 'Taldok' produced defamatory video content targeting famous idols including IVE's Wonyoung, BTS's V and Jungkook, and Kang Daniel from October 2021 to June 2023. A is reported to have earned approximately 250 million won (about 2.644 million USD) through this content. STARSHIP Entertainment and Wonyoung filed civil and criminal lawsuits, claiming that A's continuous dissemination of false facts has damaged their reputation. Prior to this, A received a compensation ruling of 50 million won (about 529,000 USD) in the first trial but appealed the decision.
