BABYMONSTER is making a comeback with YG's characteristic hip-hop and soulful sensibility. Today (1st) morning, a press conference was held to commemorate the release of BABYMONSTER's 1st full album 'DRIP' at YG's new building in Mapo, Seoul. 'DRIP' is an album that condenses their charm, with all nine carefully crafted songs expressing the group's musicality in a more diverse way. The title track 'DRIP', sharing a confident atmosphere unique to BABYMONSTER, is an EDM-based dance number mixed with YG's distinctive hip-hop vibes, and was composed with the participation of G-DRAGON, drawing attention. Another pre-released title track 'CLIK CLAK' showcases YG's DNA in the original hip-hop genre. All members challenged themselves to rap, displaying their unique voices and flows as all-rounders. Ahyeon mentioned, 'Since it is a double title track, we chose a surprisingly different atmosphere for the song. I wanted to show something genuine, so we pre-released 'CLIK CLAK'. I hope you enjoy the fun dance and performance centered around the strong EDM beat of 'DRIP'. The choreography in the chorus is a highlight. We also incorporated a cheerful atmosphere encouraging everyone to dance together.' In addition to the title tracks, the album includes 'Love, Maybe', which features prominent guitar sounds and beautiful vocals, 'Really Like You', which impresses with its 90s hip-hop sensibility, 'BILLIONAIRE', which utilizes heavy 808 bass and R&B sounds to embody Y2K sensibility, 'Love In My Heart' with a light atmosphere, 'Woke Up I Tokyo' featuring only the Japanese members' hip-hop vibes, the pre-released song 'FOREVER', and 'BATTER UP', loved as an encore song at fan meetings. They are making a comeback with a full album for the first time in three months since 'FOREVER'. Laura expressed, 'We are releasing our 1st full album. This album was released early to respond to the love from our fans. During the preparation for the album, we successfully completed a fan meeting. It was a meaningful year as we exchanged words with fans and learned a lot.' Chiquita added, 'I am very happy to show BABYMONSTER's new side through this album filled with diverse genres.' Ahyeon stated, 'While preparing for the full album, we tried various new challenges. We practiced diverse genres for the monthly evaluations, and I think it has become an album that can showcase that.' Rami introduced, 'This album is filled with BABYMONSTER's unique charm, in line with the album name. Since it is our first full album, we worked very hard. There are a total of nine songs, and I think there is enjoyment in choosing what to listen to because of the various genres included. We pondered how to best showcase what we built up during the fan meeting tour and activities.' Luca said, 'This album is a new classic of YG and BABYMONSTER. I think we can show our unique sound and charm.' Regarding the double title tracks, Asa mentioned, 'Initially, only 'DRIP' was the solo title track, but all the songs are very good. I was disappointed that only 'DRIP' would have a music video, but 'CLIK CLAK' was so good that rapping together as seven was refreshing. We discussed with the agency and made it a double title track.' Laura explained, 'Originally, 'DRIP' was known as the only title track, but after raising fans' expectations with the new genre 'CLIK CLAK', we wanted to show 'DRIP'.' Regarding YG's original hip-hop and BABYMONSTER's unique appearance, Laura stated, 'The original hip-hop we think of in YG is the part where we freely express ourselves while laughing and playing in the latter half of the 'DRIP' music video. It is not fixed, but I think it is about freely showcasing one's characteristics. In 'Sheesh', we wanted to leave a strong impression with heavy hip-hop, but this time we wanted to play and enjoy together. I think this is a newly evolved aspect.' Ahyeon explained, 'While maintaining a hip-hop base, we expressed teen-like qualities with pop colors and outfits. I want you to see our hair and makeup. YG's orthodox hip-hop is 'CLIK CLAK'. I think the refreshing taste is not YG's unique hip-hop. The way the seven of us rap about our own stories is our way, and I think it is our unique hip-hop.' Regarding their appearance at 2NE1's concert, Rami said, 'I was very surprised when I was told that we would go as guests to 2NE1 seniors' concert. I was given a great opportunity and learned a lot. Standing on that stage and watching the seniors' performances taught me many things. It was a great honor. Thanks to that, it became an opportunity for further growth.' Laura mentioned that G-DRAGON participated in 'DRIP', saying, 'Everyone was very surprised and asked if it was true. Since he participated, I felt I had to work hard to repay that.' Asa reflected, 'When I first heard the senior's demo, I worked hard to keep up with the senior's style and vibe. I was quite serious during the recording.' Laura added, 'Since everything was a well-explained demo, I tried my best to express that nuance as much as possible.' They are gaining attention for their solid live performance skills, especially their live stage using hand-held microphones, which has become a topic of discussion each time. Rami stated, 'We plan to use hand-held microphones in this music program as well. We want to showcase our charm live and appeal. It was very well received in the music program, so I want to continue to show it. We have always practiced live. Since we have honed our skills from the basics during our trainee days, I think we can do live performances well.' Laura conveyed, 'Wearing a pin mic and using a hand-held mic seemed to change the sound transmission. I thought about how fans could enjoy our stage, and we started to try performing with hand-held microphones. Fortunately, the response was good, and I am grateful that everyone enjoyed it together.' Ahyeon smiled, saying, 'I felt that our stage becomes more interesting when we use hand-held microphones. Each group has its strengths when performing, but I think our group's strength is the microphone. Fans also liked it, and the live feeling when we used hand-held microphones was good. Since it is a custom mic, that made me happy too.' Rami expressed, 'Since this is our first full album, rather than pressure, I wanted to show our charm better and thought about how we could showcase more diverse tones and voices and how we could provide better performances. We prepared it with fun, and since there are various genres, I was excited while recording.' Laura stated, '(Yang Hyun-suk) the general producer has always been there for us from the beginning to the end of this album. He talked to us about what nuances to include when singing and made detailed corrections to the choreography. He has been a strong support, so I am grateful.' Laura said, 'We all have one goal, which is a world tour, but our goal with this album is to deliver good memories and a worldview to our fans. Since fans have been waiting and sending us unwavering support and love, we will prepare and create a fun concert. Please look forward to it.' Amid the success of YG's girl groups like 2NE1 and BLACKPINK, they expressed, 'We attended many of our seniors' concerts when we were trainees. The aura, stage composition, and professionalism of our seniors are very cool. We always say, 'They are really cool seniors, and we want to be such juniors. Let's work hard.' We also want to be a group that communicates with fans joyfully.' Regarding the high rankings of Rosé, Jennie, and G-DRAGON in music charts, Laura said, 'We listen to the songs released by our seniors very well. If our music performs well as YG's juniors, it would really feel like a dream. I always think that is very good. For that reason, we filmed a lot of music programs, variety shows, and content. We worked hard, so I hope you will watch us with warm eyes. We want to show our achievements.' 'DRIP' is now available on all streaming services.
